They've made literally one other shovelware game, not really sure if that counts as being "well-established".

like don't get me wrong I'm totally all-for NMS being a great game, it sounds rad as fuck and totally awesome, and in 5 years playing it on VR will be great.

I'm just very skeptical of the launch (no pun intended)

was there really more info released about the game in the last month?

Like over the last year or two I've heard talk of more and more things the devs promised and said you can do, but all the videos they showed at the time were just scripted.

If they actually have real gameplay videos now and are showing off the things they promised, then that's a great sign

I looked more into it, everything about NMS still seems rad and still promises a lot, but that's cool.

Only thing I don't like at all is the wanted system. "Oh you shot a goat on a desolate planet hundreds of light years away from civilization? OMNIPRESENT POLICE COPS WILL NOW BE KILLING YOU". That seems kind of backwards for a game that's supposed to be about exploring and pretty much a space-dandy simulator

i agree, but i don't think they'll let it get in the way of too much

figure they probably need some way to keep people from totally destroying everything since it's ostensibly an mmo-like world

Yeah, apparently you can genocide entire alien races and fuck up ecosystems and it will be that way for everyone, so they need measures in place to limit how much that actually happens.
