are you gonna try the witcher 3 ever? I know you don't really want to get absorbed into a huge long rpg but it's not too lengthy if you just focus on the story
they do a pretty good job at making the world big as well as keeping everything pretty. Pretty sure CD Projekt is a big exception to a lot of things in the gaming industry though, theyre really determined to out-class and out-play all the big AAA devs like bethesda and EA
yeah, might be best to wait a month or two. They've got 16 pieces of DLC lined up, which is all free. So far the 4 pieces they've released are what you'd expect to be DLC, horse armor, character customization, more quests, etc.
I'm really enjoying it though, but the witcher series have so much story in them, makes it kinda hard to get really absorbed into the story since there's literally books worth of story (the games were based on books iirc).
as an rpg it's doing a great job. The combat is wonky to get used to, and it could use some optimization for the graphics, but that'll come pretty quick if the witcher 2 is any indication of how passionate they'll be about this game
My "to-play" list has grown absurdly long, and I have never had less interest in video games. Like, I do on paper, and when I get to a point where I can actually do it (and I have a lot of those points, being unemployed right now), I'm rarely, if ever, feelin' it. Very strange phenomenon where I can look at the game, acknowledge objectively that I find it fun, and then follow that observation with an immediate "but I don't feel like playing it..."

This is how I've been regarding all of my hobbies for a looonng time now. Let me know if you find a cure.
Found Portal 2 at Wal-Mart today for 15$. It was at 20 and I had been ignoring it, but with that price drop I figured why not. I've seen some gameplay footage but haven't gotten to try it myself yet. Should be fun whenever the hell I get myself around to it.

exactly the same for me here
i find i always have fun once i'm playing a game, but finding a reason to start is the problem
That's Nolan North's master plan, you see. He's starred in so many games now where he doesn't even need any more roles for people to think he's there. Immortality.
Combat in Witcher 3, much like movement in general, is a little to clunky but perfectly serviceable when you adjust to it. Unless you're a few levels over your opponent though, it's more about being methodical and exploiting weaknesses and openings than it is about rushing in and swording things to death.
