er, wow came out in 2005 so maybe that's not the best example
red chamber dream
i dunno though, in my experience sysreqs are pretty dead on
red chamber dream
they might not take into account multiple cores though, you're right
Club 27 Goals
they dont use almost any of the original WoW models or textures anymore, Cataclysm completely revamped the engine, and then Warlords of Draenor upped the minimum req like crazy

Jesus, went from a 800Mhz CPU to duo core min. rofl.

but yeah I mean my point is if a crappy $450 laptop from walmart can handle 3D games fine, I imagine a desktop from 2013 can handle a 2D platformer perfectly fine
red chamber dream
that's what i would think too

what i'm most confused about is how opium has a 1 year old computer with a 1.6ghz processer

that just doesn't make sense to me
Club 27 Goals
could be this: http://ark.intel.com/products/65696/Intel-Core-i3-3217UE-Processor-3M-Cache-1_60-GHz

in which case it'd be more than enough to handle it
Club 27 Goals
oh wow there's even an i5 that's running at 1.6Ghz http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-4200U+%40+1.60GHz
red chamber dream
wild, i didn't know there was still that much of a cost difference
red chamber dream
eh, the video card is what's important anyway

I was under the impression Opium was just using integrated graphics, since it was a desktop that was bought in-store. Unless she bought one that was labled as a "gamer" desktop of course.
red chamber dream
i guess i was under the impression that those sorts of computers couldn't be expected to run modern games
red chamber dream
in which case i would be very hesitant in saying her machine can "definitely" run axiom verge
Club 27 Goals
ones with integrated? if its the i3 or i5 line, those are pretty damn good. My grandma has one, I could play WoW and Counter Strike GO on it (at minimal settings of course) at about 30-40FPS, but a 2D game shouldn't be a problem
Club 27 Goals
in the end she should probably just pirate or download a "demo" of it to make sure it works first
red chamber dream
ah ok, that makes sense

also, axiom verge's minimum reqs say "intel pentium" which i think opium missed/didn't understand - yeah, ANYTHING nowadays will be able to run it lol

OK so I exaggerated how old the 1.6 is, so sue me. It's about 2 years old at my best recollection.  The one I used before it is 1.4.  The laptop that my sweetie brought home for me last night is a 1.6 as well, and I assumed it was newer than it is. He now says he doesn't know how old it is.  His desktop PC is 2.? but I can't play on that.  My work computer is 3.6? but I can't play on that either, company policy.

Fuck all that though because I think I'm going to call in sick for this game.  It looks like the new Super Metroid.  I've heard nothing but praise.  The music and atmosphere are great. I heard the controls were awesome, too.  I'm pretty stoked. This game seems like it was made for me.

red chamber dream
hasn't it been out for a while? i've been meaning to get it for ps4
Yeah I think it came out on PS4 about a month ago, but I don't have a PS4  Steam release is 05/14 though.
red chamber dream
ohh didn't know that
Are you going to play it?
red chamber dream
yeah, eventually
I'm jealous that you can play it now  :(
