Honestly, the only point I agree with on that review is the luck factor, but that has been the bane of the MK series since day one.

think some reviewers see that as a bad thing. i'm inclined to agree, but there are exceptions to everything - i mean i'll buy every assassin's creed that comes out because i love playing those games, even though nowadays each game is basically the same as the last.

for mk7 though it does look like the new game is literally the exact same thing as the others, just with new tracks. that's cool, some people are into that i guess, but i can definitely understand a reviewer giving a lower score because of it.

i have no opinion because i don't like mario kart and won't be playing mk7.
It's just like when a new main series Pokemon gen comes out: the only new things you expect are Pokemon, characters, cheesy crime gang, and some post-league content. Nearly everything else is the same in previous game, unless you scrutinize the black maths behind its battle system.

yeah, and that was getting old so nintendo changed it with bw. not as much as i would have liked them to, but it was a step in the right direction.

skyward sword is much the same: they changed things up a good deal but not enough to truly impress me. basically nintendo sucks these days.
I honestly didn't notice that many changes in B/W, other than some interesting tweaks to the battle system. And to be honest, I still prefer the DS remakes of the 2nd gen games to them.
red chamber dream
well they basically got rid of all the annoying overworld bullshit you had to do in the other games
red chamber dream
you didn't notice it because it wasn't there anymore lol
Like what?

in the other games you had to do a ton of backtracking, hm juggling, etc

like oh i need x item, but it's back in the town you just came from, go get it for me!
I've always taught at least a few HMs to my usual battle party and I'm too used to fetch quests from other JRPGs to really be bothered by them.

change it too much or don't change it at all, it will be met with the same reactions. no wonder they stopped caring long ago.

this applies to practically every long-running nintendo series.
Club 27 Goals
That probably tells you something about the kind of fanbase they've built up

Doesn't that apply to just about every successful game series these days? Not just Nintendo's.

true but i see a lot more people complaining about nintendo's games usually.

that's because nintendo's games suck a lot more often than other companies'

I take it you specifically mean the current gen? Most of Ninty's proper games (ie. not Mario Party) last gen were pretty boss.

Really?  Even though they've been pissing us off lately by thinking that motion controls are way cooler than they actually are, they still have the best collection of awesome-as-hell games under their belt.
Almost happy
I dislike Nintendo for a lot of reasons, but they are one of only a handful of big developers that make any games that I care much about at all.

i agree. just been pretty disappointed with their wii stuff. wario land 5 is the best thing they've published, and they didn't even develop that.

it's funny how all the 3 gears of war games are pretty much the same thing, but no one complains about that...
same with god of war...

it's sad seeing the amount of sheep that goes on with this "ninty games are all the same!". Every franchise is all the same...

the only franshise that i can think about right now that changed a lot is duke nukem, started as a sidescroller shooter, then a FPS, then TPS, then FPS again...

metroid too...

it's kind of interesting what "sequel" genereally means today compared to, say, 15 or 20 years ago. gears of war 2 i think is a perfect example of the modern sequel: basically the same game with slightly better visuals and bigger setpieces.

compare that to like, zelda ii, metroid ii, smb2, even later stuff like banjo-tooie, most of which either totally changed the gameplay or significantly expanded on it. i love when sequels do this, and it's a shame it doesn't happen as often anymore. but once in a while you still see it i guess (re4, jak ii, re4, mass effect 2), and i suppose there's always been examples of "do the same thing again" (like the dkc sequels).
I think DKC was more of a 'it ain't broke so we ain't fixing it' thing.
I think they strive to make changes in a second game, then their plan is based upon how well the changes were received.
