i am by no means an expert on metroid lore though

but that would probably explain why there are metroids on tallon iv and shitloads of other places

i think maybe in fusion, or zm
Pretty sure Metroids are on planets other than SR388 because the Space Pirates brought them there
red chamber dream
if they evolved on sr388, i can't imagine they'd be able to adapt to other planets so easily

being bioengineered would make more sense i think
red chamber dream
yeah but i mean most (all?) organisms can't just go to another random planet and survive
red chamber dream
buut it's also a scifi series
Metroids don't require anything but "life energy", that's why they're so resilient

Also the new gallery exists just to show their origin, no idea how the guide managed to mess that up
red chamber dream
oh that makes sense

Some people speculate that the X parasites were also an accidental Chozo invention stemming from Aieon research. Based on the Chozo Memories, anyway.
What I find weird about Metroids is that the SR-388 environment seems to be the only place where they go through their entire life cycle.

We don't know how much a larva has to feed before it turns into an Alpha (could be years), on other planets they get killed by Samus shortly after they've been brought there by pirates, and then they're usually in some lab environment where there isn't much to eat

i think it depends on how much it eats. For example the Omega from Fusion. Plus it only changed because of the SR-388 enviornment

I've heard people complaining about this game being on the 3DS and not the Switch

That's one of the most ridiculous complaints I've ever heard. The original was ON a handheld, of course the remake would be as well. Besides, one of the best things about the game was the background depth added to it. Finally we have a plausible origin for all those floating platforms in every game!

As for Metroids because that seems to be the other topic and i'm always here for metroid lore except other m it doesnt exist:

- Metroids were created by the Chozo out of life energy (which I think the chozo were studying/harvesting in those images from sr388)
-They were created to stop the x parasite which they saw had the potential to be a huge threat
- metroids were bioengineered to eat the x parasite because hell yeah life energy
- because [jeff goldblum voice] "life finds a way," the sr388 environment caused the metroids to grow and mutate to better eat their food source and catch prey. They also went through some rowdy teenage phase that made them idk eat some of their creators.
- so the chozo were like 'shit guys maybe we shouldnt have played god, or something' and they put together the chozo seals and left most of the metroids underground.
- they call in back up and those guys were like 'lol you dudes done fucked up' and i like to think they were punished for their hubris.

other things:

-i dont think the metroid queen was intended but happened out of necessity of propogation. Thus, all metroids are like, replicas of the queen that made them. kinda like lizards. Or velociraptors.
- something about the sr388 environment causes the next growth pattern in metroids. other places wont trigger this growth. think salamanders that wont mature unless certain conditions are met.
- metroids dont need anything but 'life energy' to survive and so i dont think they NEED to worry about environmental hazards, the vacuum of space, etc. plus i think beta rays or something cause them to replicate asexually in the larva stage iirc? either way they exist because they are pretty much impervious to everything. Gelatin is pretty hardcore.

And thats all i got. The ending of Samus Returns made it so so worth it. It's insane how exciting two specific images in an art gallery can be, but there it is.

/end todays lesson on metroids and stuff

but then how did the federation get one if they were sealed away

Did anyone else see that the suitless ending on hard mode is Justin Bailey Samus?

Because the Metroid Queen's nest leads to the surface with no barriers in place that a larva metroid CANT get through.

Oh yeah I forgot about that

PS speaking of morph ball bombs in the other thread, how about that diggernaut. Jesus Christ that guy was so hard, it took me forever to figure out that his suction attack would suck up morph ball bombs. And lord was it difficult to roll into a ball, lay bombs, roll out of the ball and get away from the suction before he sucked me up. More than an hour of repetitive time consuming battle moves and stages... kill me now. That was a hard ass boss.

Also, did anyone try power bombing the stomach of the queen metroid? I remembered during the battle that it was a valid strategy but totally forgot/was afraid to employ it. Perhaps I'll try it on my second go around.

I never realized the opportunities to melee counter the queen until i already beat it but i'll try power bombing her when (if) i get to her on hard mode. and yeah the diggernaut fight took me forever to figure out the bomb part. I was avoiding his attacks for about 10 minutes thinking I was just getting terrible rng

I dodged the suction attack by jumping over it between bombings, but it turns out it's also possible to use Spider Ball to stay safe from it.

And yeah, power bombing the queen is another thing you can do that I never figured out how to do until watching a speedrun afterward.

does it insta kill her?
Samus Lauren
No it's not an inatakill and wasn't in the original either, but it does massive damage and is only available if you successfully counter her. I think it takes two/three power bombs but i haven't done so I'm not sure.
I was waiting for the opportunity to roll into her mouth all fight. Also put normal bombs alongside the pbomb, but couldn't tell if that did anything or if there's a dmg cap per stomach visit

I'm about to fight the first omega on hard. I'm a little scared cause I found the omegas difficult in normal
