I loved the omegas but DAMN. Fighting essentially three in a row in the chozo laboratories was... Quite the endurance tester lmao.

on my first playthrough I accidently ran into the stronger variation of the omegas first in the laboratories XD. I think the red/green ones are stronger than the blue ones

I noticed that different-looking Omega, but I couldn't tell any difference in the fight itself.

I think they just have more health than the other ones. The Alphas and Gammas are definitely different though

I actually managed to beat diggernaut on my first try on hard mode :D
I haven't been on this site in years, new game brought me back. Cool to see some of the old names still posting.

WTH is going on in that last chozo memory? Like, they sealed away the metroids and then some other chozos come and kill everyone? WERE THEY INFECTED WITH X-PARASITES??? The nerd in me loves shit like this.

But yeah, good game, possibly my favourite 2D metroid. It goes to show what a studio with a shitty reputation can achieve when a good publisher/IP owner is breathing down their necks/guiding them to make something cool.

much like retro studios! ;)

Hey now be nice, I've liked pretty much any game that retro has developed. >:( I mean it's legit just donkey Kong Mario kart and Metroid prime, but those are all damn good solid titles.

I tend to be pretty happy with anything produced for Nintendo when it comes to their core titles. Other m just happened to be one of those few few titles that slipped through the cracks.
A vocal minority here just really really REALLY REEEEAAAAALLY doesn't like Echoes.
Samus Lauren
If it's Ark, I will fight him bc I love echoes it just upped the difficulty factor really, really fast haha.
I mean, to be fair, it has its issues and isn't quite on par with Prime 1, but that's beating a horse that died a decade ago.

Yeah and I think everyone acknowledges that, because the back tracking was ridiculous and sometimes hard to deal with+ some of the hardest and most time consuming bosses in Metroid history but damn if it wasn't good otherwise.

But I'm digressing. Let's keep talking about how satisfyingly wonderful Samus Returns is.
Well, it's definitely a step in the right direction. I think some of the controls could use refinement, but I'm satisfied with what Mercury Steam managed to accomplish. Buen trabajo, folks.
I don't particularly enjoy replaying any 3D Metroids, but I'd probably replay Other M over the Primes

Also Federation Force is the best Metroid game
Samus Lauren
Now you're just trolling.

i actually love both of the recent dkc games, so i can't hate on retro too much

idkbutlike2 yeah, the controls in samus returns are kind of annoying for me too. i wish i could use the d-pad to move, but tbh it's really only a problem for up/down inputs like going into morph ball. i've been using the touch screen for that some, but i haven't gotten used to it yet. and also the 3ds is just so small, holding both l and r and aiming and shooting starts to cramp my fingers like crazy
red chamber dream
i am the type to constantly spam missiles though
My left index finger was in shambles after beating the game lol. They could have at least let you make the spiderball a toggle rather than something you activate by holding down a button. AM2R let you do that and it worked just fine.
red chamber dream
oh god i forgot about that, yeah ugh a toggle would have been great
I'm okay with using the circle pad for movement, though. I've already played a few platformers that relied on analog stick controls for various reasons.
red chamber dream
me too, and it is something i get used to, but i still prefer at least having the d-pad as an option
red chamber dream
maybe it's because of my wario land 5 speed runs, just can't imagine doing that with a stick
red chamber dream
so it's a definite bias for me

My hand was definitely cramping while trying to maneuver around the diggernaut. Learning the pattern was all fine and dandy but one wrong move on the control pad and it was another five minutes of repetitive cycle torture.
Did you know that you could avoid getting sucked up by him by using the spiderball?
