This week's episode was alright, but not much more. But it was apparently essentially the b-plot to next week's episode, supposed to take place during the same time in another location. Which this episode isn't really going to be doing anything for except presumably explain the absenseabcsenseabcense not-being-there-ness of a character.
Airing the B-plot as a full episode before the A-Plot is a really weird decision.
Well, idk if it's really a "B-plot" as such... it's following Spike in Ponyville while the main six are off on other business, and the next episode will show what THEY were doing. But this episode was apparently originally slated to air three episodes earlier than it did (or at least it's episode 8 in production order, and the only episode in the season to be moved like that), but was pushed to appear right before the next one.
Babbysat two little girls yesterday, ended up watching 8 episodes of Season 3.
ep 1+2: Kinda neat I guess, villain wasn't very involved. 5/10 ep 3: Not bad actually, despite all the pinkies. 7/10 ep 4: Boring, lame, catchy song. 6/10 ep 5: Fuckin Trixie everywhere in this bitch, and magic. 9/10 ep 6: Predictable, amusingish. 6.5/10 ep 7: Actually quite good, 8/10, nothing else to really say ep 8: Boring, predictable, but it had a catchy song god dammit. 6/10

Little late but yeah that seems like a fairly accurate assessment. I imagine it's still a ton of fun for the kids though so that's ok.
So, eh. Latest episode was pretty forgettable. Fairly stupid plot, not the episode that was expected and it would have made a lot more sense for this to air before Just For Sidekicks. Rarity had the least screentime and still managed to get the best scenes of the episode.
Still a season finale to go but yeah this has been a fairly weak season with a few goldens.
Also: If you people haven't read the Friendship is Magic comic you need to do so because it's better than the show right now. Third issue released fairly recently.
Ok yeah Rarity was pretty ownzone in that episode, but it really should have aired before the previous one that bit at the end only would have worked better in that order.
But yeah Rarity ownzone was kinda all it had going on, shout out to chillmode Twilight tho.
Oh wow I think this is the most obvious it has ever been that Rarity's speaking and singing voice actors are different people.
Okay what the fuck was the actual point of that there
I don't even what the fuck
The fuck
So yeah I had a thing about this episode somewhat spoiled to me before. I wasn't really sure if I believed it and even after actually seeing it in the episode I'm still not sure if I actually believe it.
All in all that seemed like they were trying to make a majestic season finale but it just fell flat because
