I don't want to download QuickTime (which is required to view these videos, apparently), so I can't view these videos.

So, does anyone have the videos hosted on this site in a different format?
Thread title:
Download them manually (there's a download button under each video) and watch them with VLC media player, maybe?
Download Quicktime.

You missed the point of my post. I am fully aware of that he said that, but 'not wanting to' is not reason enough.

However, If there's complications that makes it impossible for him to download it, I would suggest Defilerpak + Media Player Classic, although it is far from as good as just getting Quicktime.

Hmm... trh, are you unaware that Windows Quicktime is an annoying piece of crap?

Still, back to the original poster, the major point of the videos is for them to be embedded streaming, and unfortunately when it comes to that it's a choice between the lesser of three evils (Quicktime, which has a bad windows port; WMA, which has no easy ports for other operating systems; and Real, which is, well, Real).

Better than anything else I've come across for playing Quicktime formats.

(time to go flv? laugh new)
You can use an inconvenient way (download + VLC, or even open the URLs in it) or you can download QuickTime.

If you decide not to watch them because it's too much trouble, that only shows that you don't want to watch them badly enough.

Also, remember that your choice of media player is not the only variable here.

You actually forgot about Flash 8 video, which is actually pretty decent AND it's a codec installed by the vast majority of the internet surfing world these days (thanks to sites such as youtube and Google Video).

Perhaps they could be a decent alternative? :P

Since this is not my computer, the owner restricted the downloads of any other media player/internet explorer/etc..

So that's why I DON'T want to download QuickTime. I'll look into VLC, though. Thanks for the options.
VLC should work (I don't think it needs admin access to install, does it…?), but the best option would be to ask the owner for permission to install QuickTime (and FireFox if you don't have that).
don't install quicktime if it's not your computer. that's just asking for trouble. definitely go the vlc route and be careful to tell it to not reassign any file extensions.

What's the beef with Windows QuickTime?  Works fine for me...

Has always worked great for me, too, but some people say it's "annoying" -- I've never seen why.
i think those people might have had experience with the mac version as well.
Hey, would this VLC (which is a good program) allow me to view the technical demonstrations and recorded speed runs?

I forget what the problem was last time I tried to view them. In fact, I think it was their format.

Sí señor.
I kinda like Windows Quicktime, feels solid.

only if they are full data video (large file) versions. you still have to have the original emulator they were recorded on and the rom they were recorded with to watch emulator (.vmu, vmv, vm0, zmv, smv, etc) video files (small).
So far I've been able to download/watch Sess' Technical Demonstration but can't download any of the demonstrations from the "Current Speed Runs" and "All Speed Runs" links...
