For the ground phase? It'd take FORVER to defeat him that way.
I would stick to rapid fire missles or super missles, but it should only take one super missle to stun him, regardless of the difficulty. I asume you are playing on hard mode, judging by your frustration
Do you know about the scan dash jump? Well, doing that with a combat visor is the only way to dodge him at the very end, when he's pretty much out of life and goes psycho on you.
Well, yay for me- I beat him earlier. The process involved alot of super missiles to stun him and damage him, though after 4 damages, I had to go on single missiles because I wasn't given enough time to charge and shoot.
I got really low on missiles by the end (I started with the full 250)and had to resort to 1 super missile to partially stun him, and then lay in with the plasma beam to properly stun and attack him. Repeated until he was defeated, to which my wife downstairs noticed as I screamed "YEEEEESSSSSS!! Die, you shit!" (you can figure out what I'm saying from the auto-censor ;))
I'm on MP now though I keep running low on missiles on phase 1. The bloody thing keeps going purple so I end up ofloading loads on my wavebuster. If I do it with just the wave beam, I take loads of damage because of how long I'm taking. There are no tricks as such that I'm aware of so I guess I'll just keep plowing on, and dodge better.
i dont think you can "partially" stun Ridley, i know if you super him in the mouth that "stuns" him so you can start laying into his chest. define what you mean by partially stun?
Yeah, the Wavebuster consumes a lot of missiles getting MP to the colour-change point. And for the love of God, don't use the Flamethrower on his red form. When you're close enough to hit him with it, you're close enough for him to hit you with an utterly devastating attack. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it drains your Energy Tanks like water.

Sorry, I meant inflicting some 'yellow pain' pain on him but not enough to stun him, so getting me some of the way there; therefore a partial stun.
As for flamethrower, there's no need as the plasma beam's powerful anyway. You don't even need to charge your blasts.
It's a shame, really - as the flamethrower would have come in great use earlier ion the game - say against hordes of War Wasps perhaps, or definately in the Pirate labs - but you get it too late.
i think that the flamethrower should have been the only thing that could melt the ice that was blocking a few expansions in phendrana, having the plasma work against the ice, just renders the flamethrower useless really........
Well people, I've succeeded. The strategy entailed not being so bold initially, and using the bits of rock in MP's cavern as guard on the 1st and 2nd floors. I didn't take one hit then. That's also the time when you have to use the wave beam most, but time wasn't an issue so I just kept blasting charge shots at it.
I found that anticipating the missiles is obviously important, and that when you need to use the plasma beam, because MP's plasma beam takes so much energy, you get just close enough to avoid its melee attacks and blast as quyickly as possible.
Because I hadn’t used the wavebuster at all I had loads of missiles near the last bit, so I laid into MP with it on the 4th floor.
I got onto second form with 9 tanks, and my only concern was would I have enough power bombs to deal with the fission metroids. I only had to use 6, as the normal and hunter metroids I just froze and missiled, but I also got quite a few power bombs as reward for destroying metroids.
Believe it or not, it took about 15 shots - maybe more - of the hyper beam to cane that sorry metroid's ass. I'm keen to know the amount that the NTSC-er's had, and indeed how many PAL-ers had a hard time with MP.
I just couldn’t get the hang of the step-off-then-back-on to the phazon pool (as shown in the boss tricks section) to strip more energy from MP.
May I suggest that this thread is stickied for those who have had similar problems with both MR and MP in the PAL version, as I can see it being a common problem?
MP second form is alot harder on PAL since he has twice as much HP as he does on NTSC. but hes still a breeze compared to his first form and Meta Ridley
