This is good topic.

But my firing speed is slowing a lot.

For example 5 years ago i got kill Metroid Fusion Omega Metroid quick kill 100% of the time without need dodge any attack. Right now my succestate is 0% of the time. My all firing reflex is slowing so much. I am nearly 26 years. How this are happen after 5 years. My reflex like my grandmother (who is died). This piss me off so much. I can,t play stanard like already.

Thats happen. How about you guys?

But i still try my best but my firing speed can,t be increased anymore. This piss off

Well if you just mash B for metroid fusion missiles/beams, you won't necessarily shoot faster. I actually don't mash for anything in metroid fusion, since I find mashing to be slower than timing each shot quickly. The only boss I mash missiles for is nightmare (Because of lag) and nettori (which I want to eventually stop mashing for).
with omega metroid, though, even when the beam goes all the way through it can take different amounts of time. if you're lined up badly, you have to mash really fast to not get swiped.

Okay. Thats interesting. I am always firing like crazy, right now i have to be dodge some claws. Maybe my angle is just badly wrong right now.

My firing speed never are very good, its increased little when i play a lot Contra games, but i still lost a lot with heidgrage & frezyman. Both guys firing like crazy.

Oh yeah, button-mashing isn't actually useful in Metroid games other than the original. Even if you can mash at least 13 per second like them, you can still only shoot 5 times per second. It's actually possible that you're failing because you're getting FASTER. Like, instead of every other shot counting, maybe only every third shot counts, so your shots are slightly further apart.

My mashing skill and reaction time change from day to day, though. I think I'm actually better than before, but sometimes, my thumbs just don't move right.

If I made Metroid Fusion, I would make it so that every hit would register regardless of how fast you were firing, and every time the game received the input to fire, Samus would fire. This would mean that in a TAS, you could theoretically fire just under 60 shots per second, which would just look insane on YouTube videos.

All wishful thinking aside, I have never been good at firing fast in any game, mainly because of my "short controlled bursts" instinct in FPS games, which carries over regardless of which game I am actually playing, and everyone knows that once something becomes second nature, it is nearly impossible to deviate from it.
you'd only be able to fire 30 shots per second.

I thought the game ran in just about 60 frames per second. Am I mistaken?
pressing the shoot button every frame is the same thing as just holding the shoot button down. you have to let go of it for a frame

I think Nintendo aims to appeal to the not-so-hardcore players. There are a ton of instances that seem clearly designed having one-handed or controller-lookers in mind (B? *looks at controller* Oh I see, the green button, okay...yay I did it!). Have you played Other M recently? I've been taking SO MANY one-handed drinking breaks throughout the game!

You know what'd be not-so-awesome?
Being able to use a REAL controller to play the abomination M:OM. Like an SNES, PS/PS2, or Classic Controller (I would prefer the PS/PS2 Dual-Shock, though the SNES controller should suffice if you like sticking with D-Pads. The Classic Controller just doesn't feel very ergonomic for me, and the lack of color makes buttons hard to tell apart at times.)

How would the first-person aiming work? You can only fire Missiles in first-person mode, and the Select Button arms missiles in the older games, doesn't it? DOESN'T IT?
IIRC Sakamoto said that he wanted the controls to be very classic, AKA be used like an NES controller, and be very simple. Guess how that turned out... <_<

no delay between shots. just sayin
errr what? I know there's cooldown for each beam/missile you fire, there's literally a memory address that counts down how many frames are left until you can fire a beam/missile again.

with the cheat you can fire 3 shots in 6 frames. without it you can only fire 1 shot in 6 frames. or 2 missiles in 4 frames with, 1 missile in 4 frames without

there's a cooldown as well as a limit to how many shots can be "active" at once. the cheat only affects the cooldown whereas the 3 shot/2 missile limit remains
oh, didn't realize it was a cheat, read it as a memory address for where cooldown is stored. DERP.

speaking of cooldown, what is the address for it?
no clue. I just see the value on dragonfangs's stream when he TAS's zero mission, but not the actual address for it.

nvm, found it. 0300124E

are you guys dumb? the first part is the memory address, the second part is the new value you change it to.
