Ok, I'm sure everybody has already seen this, but I found a neat trick to speed up and make RR's fight way easier when you don't have enough supers to drop him in one round (i.e., hard low or 100%). This requires the Screw attack, by the way.

You know how he likes to do his laser strike with his missiles and claw at the same time? This is supposed to be a game-ending occurence. But, if you screw attack and space jump rapidly in the upper left hand corner, so you never go more than a block down, his lasers will never hit you! Just keep grinding on the A button and you can strike when things clear up. Really, this makes the 15% hard fight so easy, I was beating it every time! His missiles also drop supers pretty often, about once every two attacks.

Anyway, tell me if this was already common knowledge. I'm just sp thrilled to have found this for myself that I wanted to post it here.

[growl]Any tricks for with 9%!?[/growl]
No, I've got nothing.  :D

Not uncommon knowledge. Just space jump in the corner to prepare for the clawing, try to avoid the lasers, and without Screw Attack, charge a beam to take out all three missiles with one shot. I've never done 9%, but it's no different with what I had. Well, Hard mode is near impossible, but Normal ain't too shabby. Um...yipes. That's a scary thought.
It would be different on 9%, since you can't charge a beam. Anyway, wouldn't a pseudo-screw attack only take out the first missile? It wouldn't get rid of them all.

Anyway, my "trick" was just the positioning, the place where lasers cannot hit you.

Right, forgot about that part...but I wasn't talking about the pseudo screw attack. I meant when they're right up in your face and you're space jumping, just release a charged shot and it takes out the three missiles.

And that positioning is tough. His head follows you. he'll shoot the lasers as high as possible and straight forward sometimes. I don't even try that, 'cuz one mistake and it's the claw of DOOM for you!!!

You can't release the charged shot. You're on 9%, and don't have charge beam.
Of course the positioning is tough. And I frequently get hit by his horizontal laser, just because I'm not teh 1337 hax0r at this game. But I have jumped over it numerous times as well. If you just hammer on the A enough and with the right rhythm, you won't get hit.
for me, he doesn't live long enough to do so
its all simple, stand next to the door, jump up, right b4 you touch the ground, launch 1 or 2 super missles.
keep repeating, his missles cant hurt you when you screw attack
Right, but this technique is really intended for a 15% hard, where you'd only have three super missiles or so, and would normally have to play the lotto: get powerups from the missiles, and hope he doesn't use them, the laser and his claw at the same time. Doing this, you can beat him much more consistantly.

Really? I've heard that somewhere before...hmm...where was it?
And of course, if your doing this on normal non-100%, you can kill him immediatley after the first claw strike. At least I think normal non-100%. Well w/e. You know...I'm starting to forget why I posted this. Heck, I'm even forgetting...oh fucking shit...
Of course. Tell me, did you actually read my technique?  :D
'Cause if you did, you'd know what runs I meant it for.
15...right...well, once again, total oblivion is my downfall. Of course...sometimes it's my salvation. Namely playing Game Boy while having people around me do very scary things...very scary indeed...
I kinda want to ask, but I don't really...

Ok, what the hell. Tell me now! What scary things? A satanic ritual? Watching the WB network? What?
lol no way
Prolly playing Pokemon... that's enough to scare anyone sane.
No, no, he said playing game boy while people around him did very scary things.

Oh, well, I guess he could have two game boys. But hey! Don't diss pokemon! Red and blue were awesome! the rest... well, never mind.
lol no way
True, red and blue were cool in their day... the rest were, indeed, not worth mention.

I had already discovered it on my first play thrue I thought it would be common knowledge.

As did I. Man, 15% Hard sucks. I should just quit and get the long beam. Maybe go through with 299 energy and 2 Super missiles. Hey, it's more energy than I had in 15% normal, and I had only one super missile expansion and no screw attack!
No. No long beam. Three supers, one e-tank, screw attack and hi-jump (unless you can escape tourian without it). Long beam is worthless.

And by "worthless" you mean "not strictly necessary. But yes, it is a waste of a percentage on a 15% run.

Okay, can somebody spoil it for me and give me the 9 or 10 required items? I can only think of 8 that haven't been excluded already....
Honestly, there are so many places you could see it. But ok:

Morph ball
missile tank
bombs
varia suit (no point in skipping, its given to you automatically in chozodia)
unknown item * 3 (chozo blocks)
power grip (removes barrier in norfair)
ice beam
