I liked Thief... and hated MGS and Splinter Cell... Weee! And I played Deus Ex the stealth way. I just bounce all over the place. Anyways, my favorite place is Kraid/Ridley. Yeah, not exactly original but whatever.
I like the suitless samus part, because it's the only thing it's got over Metroid.

In all other facets, Metroid is probably a better game.

1) Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad

2)Other things metroid ZM has over metroid:

Crouching!
Diagonal shooting
Better sound quality
more power-ups
Better graphics
More than 3 boss-like-things

3)In all facets, ZM is better than Metroid
Zero Mission and Fusion are ruined by the forced linearity. First time through, it practically acts as a guide.

Metroid has the blissful confusion...

My anology of Metroid v. ZM has to do with the Hannibal Lecter movies. (Silence of the Lambs, et cetera.)

In 1986, the movie Manhunter was released. Manhunter was based on the novel Red Dragon, the prequel to Silence of the Lambs. In 2001 (I think) Red Dragon was made into a movie itself. Manhunter is much less polished than the more recent Red Dragon, but they are both good movies, although the later one uses more advanced cinematic techniques, better film, big name actors, et cetera. That's how I see Metroid and Zero Mission - Metroid is like Manhunter - the first try that's really good in its own right, and Zero Mission is like Red Dragon - it looks pretty, but the core of it is the same. Some people like Manhunter more than Red Dragon (like me) while others (like my sister) feel the opposite. The same is true for Metroid and Zero Mission.

Forced???? Oh wait...

I guess there's confusion in terms here... Zero Mission is by no means *forced* to be linear, but there are the statues. (Those of you who like to claim you only have to do one forget that doing so requires quite a bit of whacky moves or item skippage.) To each his own, but personally, I could care less, basically since I'm VERY good at not getting lost, so I'd get to the places anyway if there weren't statues. Plus I always go in the opposite direction of the point anyway. ;p The only thing it does for me is makes sure that if I get stuck (missing some secret wall or something), I at least have a direction to investigate, which is good for me because the only thing that really discourages me is when I have *NO* clue what to do.

(BTW, have you played Prime?)
Oh yes, Zero Mission can be probably one of the least linear games with the IBJ trick... the thing is, most people just follow the statues the first time through the game, so it kind of spoils things.

And yes, I have played Prime. Prime is somewhat linear the first time, but IMO, slightly less so. You can remove the hint system (which would help in ZM), and it actually requires some skill to figure things out, even if it is handed to you. Hell, the artifacts were my favourite part... they don't tell you exactly where to go, just give you little descriptions. I had so much fun just looking for them ^_^

But meh, after experiencing the complete bliss of no map, no direction, and only you and your memory/skills against the game, Zero Mission can't compare.

And we should go back on topic... maybe we can make a Zero Mission vs. Metroid topic in Multiple Metroid...?
I like the stealth part and a in mother ship in stealth you can see 2 pirates killing them selves Laughing  like this

I liked the stealth part...it was something new, but I wouldn't really want to see it in a new game.
