I've heard about this in regards to speed runs (something I'm new to). Just what is this glitch?
Thread title:
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Info here.

Fairly good video explanation / tutorial here.
Just FYI, during the video it explains that you should avoid turning into a morph ball while inside. Ironically, I said this a long time ago I forget when, everyone was always telling me without TAS it would be very hard to do because you can turn into a ball. Well... Disable it. winky
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Yup.  This has been mentioned before. aiwebs_004
I just want to be clear, that was me. Only reason I say this is because, I think it was Cpadolf I told, he clearly didn't know so I wouldn't imagine it being anyone else. I just like the recognition for realizing the most obvious decision. lol
I would edit delete my post but since I can't, I'm gonna double post. Is it possible to skip the Super Metroid using the X-Ray climb?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
There are no rules regarding double posting with the new chat-style Taiga forum.

Yes, you can skip a huge chunk of Tourian.  Check Cpadolf's TAS here.
What does he do after he gets up there? I can't tell since I have no sound or visuals. Please say only runs left! lmao
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Basically, yes.
How much time does that save exactly?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Well, the Metroid was skipped the old way anyway, so it'll be seconds at most.
Mmk thanks. That helps.
Since I found my old account while I was searching for information, I found my original post about the morph ball thing.

We believed you the first time you mentioned that you'd mentioned it before, you know.  And the second.  I simply meant that it had been mentioned before you mentioned it.  When you posted that, it appeared that NameSpoofer had not thought of it, and you assumed it meant that nobody had.

Either way, it makes no difference.  It is known.
I know lol I just felt like sharing. I know, it's stupid to worry about but I have nothing better to post.
Also note, at least on the NTSC version, you can only use this technique to get into doors on the left side of the screen. Meaning you have to be leaving the previous room to the right. For the most part, you don't even need to get that close to the door. Maybe half way as close as explained. Also, a much better solution to getting closer is using the X-Ray instead. Either hold the directional and tapping B until you get close enough or tap both of them until you are where you want to be. It's much faster, easier and has much less tendency to fail.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
That can't be true, since Cpadolf's TAS you've already seen does it in a door on the right-hand side to skip the big Metroid.
Yeah, I realize that, but I can't manage to do it no matter how close I get. I get at the exact frame and jump in the same spot or a little to the right and near the bottom, top, middle... I can only get stuck where I can't climb.
