I tried to do it and couldn't pull it off (with home menu abuse). For the most part, it's pretty difficult to manage to change the lockon to a different target. It seemed like it was working better by switching in/out of first person to rapid fire missiles instead, but I wasnt able to hit all of them fast enough that way.

Might see if I can break the seeker lock on the door in the rinka hallway without using seekers later on, the one I'm thinking of only has three targets so we can see whether this is plausible at all that way. But I'm guessing rapidfiring missiles isn't going to see any use outside enemy/boss fights.
Quote from Prime Hunter:
I was just thinking with regards to the seeker doors. The only ones I can think of are the one leading towards Nightmare and the two or three at the end leading to the Queen. For Nightmare at least, don't you need SJ/SA to make it through the gravity rooms to get to Sector Zero in the first place? What exactly would be the point of SBing beyond that door even if we wanted to? (Or if this somehow worked.)

Still, would be nice to at least go into those rooms early if we somehow pulled it off. I'd still see that as a major victory.

Yeah, there's one spot in that entire section where you absolutely need to use the screw attack, otherwise you fall back down.  You MIGHT be able to use a grapple beam from the floor below it though.  Some grapple points seem to have an infinite range.

You get the Space Jump before Seekers anyway. Or are there locked doors that would stop you from going back to Cryosphere after SJ and before Seekers?

You mean before the first visit to the Bioweapon Research Center. Once you head there, you have to get seekers.
EDIT: I just played today. You get the screw attack in the room RIGHT BEFORE the Bioweapon Research Center. You have to go to the center to unlock the door. So no screw attack if you want to get into sector zero early. No Super Missile or Plasma Beam either, the only elevator unlocked after you beat Ridley is the one to sector 1. You have to check if you can still go into Sector 2 after getting Grapple beam.

You can't enter first person while jumping in the gravity area. I'm not sure if you can get to sector zero early at all... You'd have to be able to grapple beam from the ledge.

BTW: Shinesparking Nightmare 1 isn't worthwhile. It doesn't do nearly enough damage. Unless you can shinespark and do a lot of damage to Nightmare Unmasked that way, it is pointless. And with it dropping every so often, it is incredibly annoying to try to shinespark it.

Well well... it seems I really did overestimate Dr. Octopus. Serris is right: you can hit him after dodging twice. You just have to do it immediately, because the window before he can Sensemove again is very brief. I still haven't found a way to make him use a chest beam, but at least with this trick he can be safely attacked at other times.

Today I discovered that the second lava boss (the one like Chykka's larva form) can be beaten with charge beams alone. The grapple trick is cool but not strictly necessary. This is good because it's kind of a pain to execute; he usually hits me with something before I can get a lock. In fact, that "flop up on the ground" thing he does after grapple will sometimes happen anyway with regular attacks. Anyone know how to do the most damage while he's "flopped"? He doesn't stay that way for long.
I always did a couple of charge shots.  I imagine getting up close and just hammering on fire would be faster.
Anyone have a good strategy for taking out those Giraffe Tree things? They are always a bane of mine because it feels like they take forever, and there are two required fights against them so I know I lose a few minutes between the two battles. I thought I saw someone mention you can use Overblast on them, but I've only gotten it to work once and that was a few minutes ago during the new run I just started.
ANKOKU
Where was the Orb when you overblasted? Cause I would'nt think it would be on it's belly.

Also, my strat is just stay underneath it and charge shot. Works fairly fast, but he flips quick.
No, it had fallen to the ground for a few seconds but the orb is on its back at that point. I've only seen them do that twice or three times as far as I can remember, and I'm pretty sure they were all in my latest run from the first one I came across. Either I just don't remember them falling down like that or else I'm blind and haven't noticed the obvious opening.
Quote from Serris:
Running around below the tree spiders makes them drop to the ground, which allows you to jump onto the orb, but the positioning seems really finnicky and it's also slower than spamming Missiles.
I just get a certain distance away from them and stay in 1st person mode.  I manually aim at the purple balls flying towards me while locking on the orb and firing missiles.  They hit him even when the orb is on top, so I don't know why the guide says you have to get to higher ground to hit the orb when he flips over.  I've found this to be faster than charged shots.
ANKOKU
Missiles are definitely faster based on the damage to rate ratio.
The problem is usually being in a good enough spot to continually missile.

(When I try, I can't hit the top or his legs block the orb. And I'm not used to quick fire missiles while under him)

I'd say at least half if not most of my missiles hit.  I stand about 20-30 feet away from him.

I recall just standing still and hammering Missiles.

made a no hit damage vid not long ago on the queen metroid. =)

You still took damage from the queen's belly! I CALL LIES AND SLANDER!

What was the tip that indicated you needed to dodge a Metroid? I only got lucky mashing buttons.

seeing this video, her arm flash just like when she activate something just before the final part of the battle...

it's still not enough to say that she had activated the PB anyway...

I typically dodge when I see them charging in to attack me.
Indie Lover
i just used my knowledge of prime 3 where you need to wait the metroid to attack you before freezing them...
ANKOKU
Well I mean, They managed to all hover over me so I couldn't tell if they were just hovering or were ready to attack.

They do something similar to their behaviour in the Prime games -- back up for a sec, then dive. With a little practice it's not hard to predict. That said, you can't really go wrong by just assuming they're always about to attack you. Just move a lot, and when Sensemove kicks in, fire a charged shot. I've found I have a better chance of freezing multiple Metroids after a dodge.
Best times I've found to be able to freeze them are after dodging an attack or after getting them off of you if they manage to latch on. Obviously the first option is the better one in this case.
Phoenix
I think they also skree right before attacking.
Indie Lover
well, the sound is very chaotic at that fight, we have a queen screaming just besides you, and you are more preocupied in surviving that in hearing which metroid is skreeing...

Just keep tapping the D-pad in any direction to sensemove when they attack you THEN shoot the Metroids is the only way to hit them. thats how i did it.
