I gotta do something with my extra snes one of these days, I no longer have my extra copy of super metroid to fill it with...

Can I buy your extra snes?

I was thinking about selling it.  Seems the logical answer.

On a related note about emulation.

I am so against piracy.
I FUCKING BOUGHT A LEGIT COPY OF WINDWS XP!  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked
Quote from SABERinBLUE:
I was an exclusive GB/GBC/GBA gamer for awhile, and I'm certain that the back of all the instruction booklets said that backup copies of the cartridges are not necessary and not legal.  I don't know what they were talking about with the "not necessary", though, because those grey cartridges were fragile.  I've had random memory erasure problems with GBC cartridges, even.

afaik it's not illegal to say something is illegal even though it's not, so that's why they can do that. just like when hotels say they aren't responsible for any damages to things you bring with you or whatever ... guess what, they are. you can't escape liability just by saying you're not liable, which is imo a good thing. imagine how horrible this country (the us) would be if that were different. so yeah, similarly, companies can tell you what you can't do all they want, but it doesn't actually mean anything in reality.

and syl, ugh ... that's two copies i've heard of actually being bought now. what's the world coming to?? :P

That doesn't make it okay!  Video game developers lose millions of dollars when you do that!
I have been wondering about something regarding of "hacked" roms.

Do you have to delete "hacked" roms within 24 hours, or are you allowed to keep them?

When I mean by "hacked", I mean the game's graphics, and other stuff being altered by a program.
they are 100% illegal (in the united states, anyway), no matter what you are doing with them, or when.
Well, I live in Australia, so there must be diffrent laws regarding of roms here, like another country would regard roms diffrently.

I have a totally off-topic and random question about Australian law.  I read in Bill Bryson's In a Sunburned Country (a good-natured title, he writes a glowing account of Australia) that voting is required by law in Australia.  Is/was this true?
will let actual australians answer for real, but yes, i've heard them talk about it before ... apparently you are fined if you don't vote, but the fine is so light that some people don't take it seriously, and also you can come up with a lot of excuses to avoid being fined (i.e. sickness, motherhood).
