Eh, it's kind of a "why not?" sort of thing.  Vin, there a shot you could make the blue around those sprites transparent?

I told the thing to make 'em transparent, but it didn't work. Might have something to do with the fact that the sprites were .bmp format.

And what purpose would those serve?
No one says "I feel like a Morph Ball today", or "looks to the right like Samus' head would".

Useful extra smileys would be helpful, not gimmicky things that would have no point.

Agreed. Those are cool icons, but not something to use as emoticons. They're not even emotions. Except the Metroid, of course. I feel very Metroid today.

Well, as I said, more of a "why not" sort of thing.  Of course, for actual emotions, we could have this  :(  with a metroid sucking on it.  Tag:  :thissucks:

Also, a torso shot of the the classic Houston back-and-foth motion would be cool.  Like for a shifty eyes thing or what have you. 

Also: 

A mug shot of the worst NES Metroid ending. 

Others will occur to me.

They'd just be abused by people to post them for the hell of it, since they wouldn't be emoting anything with them.  A better 'laugh' would be nice, though.

Replace the wiggling lips? My friend, Laughing  is the best emoticon ever made.
Two of my favourite ones, though, are :P and Rolling Eyes

I think a "shifty eyes" emoticon would be cool, as long as it's a normal yellow face like most of the others.

There wouldn't be a point to use them, except that they're new and don't refer to an emotion at all.  That's what emoticons are usually used for..

I'm definitely agreeing with Red here. Emoticons are mostly a sort of puncuation, and there's absoutely no need to make up random puncuation marks. And I'll stab somebody with a rusty spoon if they suggest the dancing banana smiley... *shudder*

Personally, I sometimes use text smileys as sort of an alternate puncuation in cases where the normal smilies don't fit... of course, some of that is the lack of a decent :). That's probably what's gotten me into the habit of using ^_^ style smilies more often everywhere.

The wiggling lips is supposed to be a laugh..that ain't a laugh..a real laugh would be a nice addition (not replacement).
