It occurs to me that there is a distinct lack of custom emoticons on Metroid2002. I don't mean I think the ones we already commonly use should be changed, but there really are a lot of cool Metroid-oriented ones that I can think of that we might add onto the pack. this could be an open season for anyone that wants to contribute, and I could lend my limited pixel-MSPaint skillzorz to the thing. So my question: if people submitted custom emoticons in, say, this thread, would they be considered for addition?

Custom Emoticons = crap.

Unless somebody will make normal smilies that replace some of the wierd smilies phpBB comes with... where's the freaking simple smile smiley?

Au contraire, homeslice; I rather enjoy custom emotes so long as they fit in well with the existing crowd (i.e. they look good, and they aren't nonconformist like Mr. Green). Insert Gaia reference here.

Not in particular; while I agree that we need a normal smiling emote, I rather prefer to just add new emote classes instead of replacing the ones we have. (Well, let's get rid of Lolboy here Laughing

, he pisses me off). Adds versatility and whatnot.

Anyway, I think the best thing possible to add to these forums would be a normal, smiling emoticon, with no teeth showing. Many times I have wanted to use one, but the closest we currently have is some nervous looking weird smile: :)

I second that. I would also suggest a possible addendum to the Emoticons that included a small number of sequence-breaking-related Emoticons. One to express displeasure at a quarking (see attachment) strikes me as a good investment. Now, if someone could only transparentulate this:

Meh. ^_^; doesn't have quite the same effect as an actual sweatdrop emote. And I really wish we had a :heart:. Hell, what I really want is a Maru Mari.

A bunch of 16x16s I culled from a bunch of Metroid sprites to find a good favicon. A Maru Mari lies within. If someone would be willing to make an animated .gif of a rolling-in-place Maru Mari, I could provide the frames in .bmp form, albeit un-trans-par-ent-u-late-ed.

I think having emoticons from games or movies (such as a TIE fighter) is just plain stupid. I just want the basic expression, like a smiley with no teeth.

Yeah, I know, I'm talking about an extremely large ASCII thread on StarWars.com forums from awhile back, in which I was a large player. Actually assigning images to a TIE Fighter as an Emoticon would be all of what you just said.

Had these lying around when I was going to make a Metroid fangame. Just had to toss 'em into an animator program and <b>voila</b>!
