My hack isn't done yet but it's official soundtrack is!
I'm not skilled enough to put new music into the game so I chose this medium instead.
Enjoy!

Sweet!!  I'll download this stuff and enjoy it.  grin new I might comment on the music after I listen to it.  I think I'll be able to find someone who'll be able to put the front and back covers on this cd, possibly as well as the design for the cd itself.  Perhaps your current sig can be the art on the cd itself if I can talk my person into it.  grin new

Yay, I'm the first to post a reply here!!  grin new grin new

OMG!!!! How amazingly special!!!! Good thing you chose to inform us all otherwise we'd never know!
Destroyer of Pirates
oh dear, what kind of masterpiece have you whipped up now...

HOLY CRAP I HAVE BEEN BLOWN AWAY AARRGGHH!!!
...
Awesome music, I love it!  This just makes me even more excited for Eris to be released!
Yo.
Okay, now for some real comments. I like it a lot. It's a lot of ambient noise, all tweaked to provide a sense of environment with the music itself. My only complaints would be that some of it is a little repetitive, and some of the tracks are too short for my liking (AKA I would have liked to hear more OF them longer. =( ) Dranaphen's first song and a few other firsts were simply awesome. Epic stuff, DMan. You've got a fan in me. ;)

tl;dr, This album -
This is a really nice soundtrack DMantra!  As Zhs2 mentioned, lots of ambient noise, just like a Metroid game should have.  It sets the tone very nicely.

I'm almost thinking that you should release two versions of Eris.  One with the SM music and one with no music at all so we can loop these tracks in the background as we play through areas.  They seem to loop pretty well.  Give it a thought, okay?

it sounds like he's going to put his music into the hack, so you won't hear nintendo's sm music at all.

ohh, didn't see that. ok then.
Music is a bitch to code in hacks AFAIK.
Very nice music Dman. just like zhs2 said, the music is a bit repetitive, but has a great feel to it. (GOD TIER)

also, I suggest going with FP's idea: two versions of the hack, one with music and the other without.
you'd just have to set every single room to the song track:
1E = Tourian
06 = song two
WOW, DM!  I just listened to it on my ipod for the last hour or so.  I love it!  I was able to picture this game and really get a feel for it, now I'm more excited than ever.  I really feel like you've achieved the atmosphere of a metroid game with this music.  I would use the same adjectives to describe it as I would for super metroid:  dark, futuristic, alien, ominous, oh and trippy too.  As of now, I feel like my life is totally empty until I play this game.

I bow before you in awe.

Wow. Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm really glad my music was able to sound 'metroidy' to you. That was probably the hardest thing for me.

Anyways about there being a muted version of the hack, I dunno. If I did make a version like that, it probably wouldn't be released officially alongside the original. Maybe just upon request.

Thanks again for the awesome comments!

Nice album art. I would love to see it etched on the disc. Just get a blank disc photo, and design it from scratch on there.

A blue and black pattern almost like the cover art, the tracks on the sides, your copyright or CCL, and some other stuff, like "Created for Super Metroid Eris".
...
I might put Echoes of Eris on a CD-R, just to make it more on-the-go for people who like it that way.
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
It would be pointless for Dman to make a music-less version of Eris, as you can just turn off the sound in the emulator menu. So it does save a lot of time and instead of having two versions, you'll have one, and you can easily switch between the way Dmantra used the Nintendo music or a music player.

Downloading now Dman grin new grin new grin new

38 mins 25 seconds remaining... damn I hate my shitty internet.

is there a way to turn off just the bg music, though? i'm sure players would want to hear the sound effects like normal while listening to the eris soundtrack.

hmm, if you have ZSNES try pressing the F6-F12 they dissable sound channels, you can dissable the BG music with that, but you will also lose some of the quality of the sound affects (last time i did this it happend) i think some of the sound effects are played in the same channel as the BG. so be prepared
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Bloodsonic did mention above the manner in which you'd disable the music.
Yo.
Very off-topic, but the release of this album spawned one of the most insane hypothetical situations ever: What if you happened to code a Winamp controller into your Super Metroid hack? Me and my brother laughed for hours about this last night. Sigged!

But, yeah. All silliness aside, Disabling the music ingame manually with SMILE would be the best route if you like your sound quality. =)
Green-Kirby, ROAR!
Were nice sound track I have to say.
In fact the songs are very metroidy and I think they would fit you're hack very good if you ever learn how to code with the SPC engine in the future.

How ever there are some things I would like to point out.
While the tracks do fit the theme of you're hack almost all the songs are in the same style.
I was hoping for some epic theme for samus and some thing a bit more faster that got more beat for the boss songs.

I'm not sure how much action there is in you're hack as I have not played it yet. But most of these tracks beside the boss ones would sound kinda bad for a room full of monsters.
I know you're going for a bit more of the erie (is that even a word?) feel for this hack rather then the more all around that SM had. So I guess a more happy track would sound bad; But some thing a more upbeat for the bosses and rooms full of monster would be good. I'm not sure how you would use samus theme if you got it inside you're hack; But SM uses it for the strike back phase on MB and in upper crateria after you got power bombs. If would use it like that then I would prefer a song with a bit more epicnes to it.

This is all just looking at it from the perspective of if it was inside the hack. (As thats what it was written for) And I'm sure as hell going to listen to it while playing. (Turning off the right sound channels so you still got SFX)

Theys are great songs by all means. And if you don't like what I say you're free to ignore it.
(Personally I prefer to get feedback that points out errors, thats why the feedback I give might sound negative.)
...
I have all the tracks on my iPod now.  I love that extra-terrestial feeling of the music.  It seems to belong in a Metroid game while at the same time sounding beyond a Metroid game.  Also, just as a warning to everyone, you'll have to add a title to each track if you want to import them to iTunes.  Otherwise, in iTunes, it will appear as "1. (name of track)".  It helps to remove the numbers.

For the CD-R, I think I'd use DMantra's current sig for the design/art/picture on the disc instead of what's already provided for the cover and back cover of the CD case.  That's what I'll probably do when I get around to it anyway. grin new

I've listened to it and my favorite part of the whole thing is in "Exploration" when it seems to say, "Not there".  Oh, crap!!  I went the wrong way when item searching!! laugh new laugh new  Not too bad, looking forward to listening to the music as I play the hack.

There's no correlation between the samus theme and my samus theme. It's not a song meant for crateria after powerbombs, it's just a general theme of Samus Aran. I wanted to make a track expressing who she is.

Interesting you'd hear 'not there' cause I guess that also works. The sample was from an old b&w film. It's an old lady saying 'Look down there.'

Thanks for listening everyone! There may still be more areas made (as my areas are like 5-20 rooms big) but I won't be composing anymore. Some of these tracks work in a uni-region way anyhow.
