Easy Mode?

It occurs to me that if times are possible like they are in other modes, an Easy Mode run could drive the minimum completion time of the game down even farther. I know Easy Mode is for wimps, but honestly, if enough time could be saved, a pure speed Easy Mode run could be pretty cool.

a cursory search of the m2k2 and sda forums doesn't reveal previous posts on this topic, but iirc i said something like "accepting runs on easy mode would encourage substandard people to submit substandard runs". it's supply and demand: there's neither.

True enough; I know that easy mode runs aren't accepted at sda for lack of sufficient difference between easy and normal.

I thought it was in the "fastest times" topic here, on the top of a page. Hrmm...

"there isn't enough interest. crappy people would be submitting crappy runs just because they could get a (literally) easy record."

I remember that part at least, though the new wording is funnier. Now would easy save any time? The only thing I remember being different at all were taking less damage from bosses and longer escapes. Now if you need the longer escapes...

But that doesn't follow. If one or more of the mzm elites did an Easy run, it wouldn't be easy at all for a scrub to get a record.

I don't see the point of there being an easy record when Time Attack mode (which is what you should be playing under unless you're on hard) is on normal difficulty.

Way, WAY too much information there....

Anyway, I agree with Saber. I think someone should have a try at speed running easy mode. It'd be a laugh when someone completes the game in 10 minutes or something.

Dude, I swear, an easy speedrun would not save thirty seconds.

SS 9% Easy though would be interesting, I'd watch it.

Actually, ive played and beaten ZM on EASY mode and the fastest i can do (non-100%) is about 3hours, or something. Yes i suck that much...

Edit: a reminder, it wasnt a speed run.

well I don't think that I would want to watch a run done on the easy difficluty for any game, for the reasons that have been listed: lack of real skill, not terribly exiting, and having those runs being the "record" would definetley make my eye start twitching. I know my reason may not be of terrible concern, but I don't want m2k2 having a large n00b herd congregating around the forum (I know everyone has thier moments, but I dread having some Nsider or gamefaqs person doing rather annoying things on a very routine basis)

If it became a problem, I mean, AJ just single-segged mzm easy today in just over a half hour. Not that it would really have much of a place anywhere since it's so similar to Normal, but a n00b holding the record isn't something anyone needs to worry about.

Well, now that you put it that way....I wouldn't want a whole bunch of GameFAQ's n00bs in on this. Maybe you're right. M2K2 is for the best only to make the runs, after all.

I should clarify what I said in my post before this one. this forum does benefit from people who are not the best of the best, as they add to our forum and are just as good as the so called best of the best. some of the people here may come here and contribute greatly to the social part of the forum but may not be able to controbute skill wise. those people are just as important as the world record holders. what I'm against would be the people who have problems contributing to m2k2 in some constructive manner (SB'ing, social, art) and are generally immature and just cause problems. seeing as I was new to this fourm and welcomed without issue means I should to the same to others, provided they don't act like this is gamefaqs or cause trouble.
