maybe Samus wasn't strong enough to absorb the Ice Beam and not receive pain from the ice at that point of the game but by the end she has gotten strong enough to absorb it and use it without suffering any side effect (other than having a new color on her suit).
Actually she took the metroid vacceen which made her DNA like a metroid thats why she couldn't asorb it cause her system would reject it. But at the end when she asorbs Sa_X that made her get the fully powered Fusion suit. A Fusion of Power/Vara and the Metroidy one allowing her to use ice beam?
The vaccine altered her DNA to that like a Metroid's.  That's why her body would reject the Ice Beam.

When she absorbed the SA-X, she absorbed her own DNA back, thus turning herself the way she was before the X infected her on SR388.  She also absorbed the Ice Beam from the SA-X because the SA-X was armed with an Ice Beam.

If you use an AR to get the Orange Fusion Suit (Which I like to call the SA-X Suit) anytime before you absorb the SA-X before you the Omega Metroid battle, you get to wander around the game with it.  But you'll note that Samus absorbs no more X after the SA-X, and there's a reason for that.  It's because if you do get an early SA-X Suit, absorb an X.  Any X will do.

Now absorb an X while using frame-by-frame.  You'll notice your suit reverts back to the Fusion Suit (Or whichever suit you actually have at the time) while she's absorbing the X.

Think about it.  A plot line filled in unintentionally in a Metroid game.  Interesting...
I'm confused...you're saying that if she has the SA-X suit early she can't absorb X but then saying that when she does absorb X she reverts to the Fusion Suit?  Do you just mean that she doesn't get health/refills from X she absorbs while in the SA-X suit?
Could be.  Keep in mind, it's only a theory that she loses the ability to absorb X when she gets the SA-X.  The theory is back up by the fact that if you use an AR to get early SA-X suit, absorb an X.  For all the frames you're absorbing the X in, Samus doesn't have the SA-X suit on.

Or we could all be overthinking this and trying to explain a game's reason for freaking out when we use cheat devices. :D
Oh, so your "you'll note that Samus absorbs no more X after the SA-X" doesn't refer to her artificially having the SA-X suit via AR but just to the fact that there are no more X in the game after the final battle?

definitely would not count things like that as canon. the companies virtually never make later games with stuff like that in mind.
It could be possible...If you borged the game. I don't have an Action Replay (I assume that's what AR stands for), so I can't try this.
the term emu rape has been deprecated. please use one of the alternate terms.
Oh. Ok. Thanks for the correction.
I'll be back. Maybe...
perhaps it is just because the sprites were never created because they would never be used. i assume this does not apply if you use a pallete swap rather than a sprite swap.
I assume you could hack the game and do it. Maybe code the SA-X to be hurtable no matter where you are.

One thing that would be nice, If you damage teh SA-X at a certain point, that damage would carry over to the next meeting.  So, say you take out 1/8 of teh SA-X's first time meeting. (Lord know's how) next time you see the SA-X, it still has the 1/8 damage from before. (If that's how nintendo had programmed the game, oh well)
(user is banned)
does shinesparking the SA-X do anything in your last battle? (action replay'd)
Cook of the Sea
iirc it doesn't do anything, but I'm not sure.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
35hit kill.avi
it does
I need to remember this.

But how do you hack these things? And what does "iirc" mean?
if I recall correctly
Oh. But how do you hack these mo-fos? Me want to hack and make SA-X hurtable... Twisted Evil

If you manage to make a hack, tell me the site where I can download it ^-^ so I can kick the mofo SA-X 's butt!
Don't you love hacking? I would...if I could. Man these things have more firewalls than my school does.

he means they're hard to hack.

you can (technically) get an early SA-X faceoff. just let it detect you during an encounter. you can't kill it, but you can keep the "battle" going for quite a while.
Mister ...
Here's a question not really SA-X related.

In Metroid 2, the Omega Metroids were a serious threat, and you had to unload a lot of missiles into it.  IF by some miracle you still had Ice Beam, that was ineffective. However, in Fusion, When you fight the Omega, teh Ice beam kills the Metroid, but missiles just bounce off.

Now, is it possible that they evolved someway to become immune to missiles, but becoming weak to ice at the same time? (though, why doesn't a fully charges Ice Missile work?)

Post what you think.
