So the ZM skype chat (mostly Zx497, Mobiusman and Me in this case) found how to get Power Bombs Early!
It's not really useful for anything right now though because you have to die in order to grab them. Just... watch the video.

You have to die from heat damage while in the door transition. A frame of gameplay will sometimes happen when going through a transition (every other frame afaik, so practically speaking randomly 50% of the time). If you take fatal damage on this frame, the video happens.
You are put in a state that's very similar to NoClip in the debug rom. You can move around freely; L and R will make you go faster. You can however not interact with anything: load triggers, items, terrain, nothing. Whenever you press Start or B the death sequence triggers like "normal", when it triggers you CAN interact with things and you can for some reason still pause (you normally can't when you die).
The next room DOES load around you, but its visuals doesn't. If you maneuver to the power bombs and 'die' you'll pick them up, they are inconveniently located off screen on both axes so you have to find them blind. I used memory watch to look at my position for this, but on actual console you'd need to find a feel for how far off screen they are. After grabbing them you still die, but you DO grab them.
If you go back to the title screen after dying like this, the background graphics get all messed up. We currently have no idea why this happens, it doesn't seem to affect anything else and returns to normal if you go into the game and then back. Either via the title demo or starting a file.
