I would've skipped the map, but in the trial runs I had done I had determined that my success rate was about 10%, and rather than lose the run altogether, I just chose to skip it.
That's the biggest thing about single-segments...no luxury of resetting. So I have to play it safe in some spots.
...and yeah...elevators hate me too...my last run I was ready for the one in Brinstar to let me fall through when it blinked...kinda like Houston did
For this run I wasn't trying to perform every trick in the book...just to get sub 1 hour on a single segment. From this point forward I'll probably concentrate on skipping Ridley map, and a couple other hard to do techniques...since I want to get my time even lower
Heh, sat down tonight and worked on some tricks...got the "Skip Ridley Map Station" down pact after like 5 minutes...plus got like a 50% chance to pull off pretty much the same maneuver on the way back through Kraid after getting the PB and missile in the magma in Norfair.
Watch out AJ...I'm comin' for that Hard 100% record
Heh, sweet. I look forward to seeing what times you get. Keep in mind though, that I'm still doing it too. In fact, I plan on starting another one in less than a week, and I've got some good tricks planned out. And by good tricks, I mean little more than new places to walljump or faster ways to bombjump. Still should be faster though, heh.
So goes the plan. As of now I have an average of about (when not including the 8 minute segs) 3 minutes game time. I hope to have most of the segs up to about 8 minutes game time.
