I mean with something minor, like bumping month-and-a-day-old topics, double posting, spoilers, etc..
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Minor or not, a mod is a mod ignoring them is a bad idea. Even if they're new checking to see if someone is a mod isn't hard, the metroids are right above the avatar, not exactly easy to miss.

Like Acheron mentioned, it's better to not need a mod to tell you if you break a rule. Offenses are often forgotten if it's not a habit, but not realizing someone's a mod shouldn't really ever lead to disciplinary action unless you start a big fuss about a mod mini-modding, but that counts as mini-modding in itself. If someone tells people in a topic that it's getting too hectic or something and you don't realize they're a mod, it might be best to take a moment to consider their observation.

I vaguely remember that incident. I think Ark informed you that Bio became an op because he had made a suggestion or something and nobody listened, but Bio's been more assertive since then I think.
OH ****!!!!
Just to let you guys know a statistic which i see with every forum. 70% of new users don't read the rules until thier post count gets to 200 or so. I'm part of the 30% and for some reason i've broken a few rules that i never read, even if i went go read thier was nothing to find.

Did you break unwritten rules that mods sent you PMs about it? Otherwise you might've misunderstood one or the other mod and thought of their personal view as a rule.
OH ****!!!!
The only pm i got from a mod was from ark about my sig length but thats a written rule.

So what's the problem, then ?

K, thx.

This sparked in me some questions about what boundaries are in the "1337 speak" or grammar rule(s). Does this count as 1337 talk?

And if it doesn't, I think it at least borders on useless, similarly to many (most?) of this user's posts.

Oh thiers no problem. I was stating a statistic. Also i realized awhile ago that Mr. Aran wasn't a mod. Embarassed

You'll noticed that post is gone now, and the poster was notified.

I don't think it's that big of a deal (I use 'k' and 'lol' frequently), but if that was the entire content of his post, it's a pretty crappy post. If you're going to sincerely thank someone, you should probably word in a way that you actually appear serious.

Does showing a picture of "the finger" go against the rules?

No, but I can't really think of a good reason to post one.

It seems like people take nearly every negative comment as a troll, if you read the end of IUniverse's "8th Hunter" topic.  And I've always wondered what's so bad about mini-modding.  After that one topic, I never mini-modded again, but I do it all the time in RuneScape and nothing's wrong with it there.  Just curious.

Gives new users the wrong impression. Might make them think you actually have some sort of power to back yourself up. The forum management is extremely active here, so there's really no need for regular users to worry about what other users are posted. The mods here can handle it just fine, and they can actually do something about it.

Other than that, it can just get annoying if a dozen people pop out to point out someone's mistake and scold him for it. Then things just get taken off-topic, and although off-topicness is common in the social fora, it simply detracts from actual content. People start to not care about TBJing the GTH bars because the topic for it is full of people telling someone else they misspelled "you're," telling each other to read the rules they themselves haven't even read, and "lol" posts.

TLDR version: It leads to people not caring about progress or finding help.
Yo.
Say, I've always wondered about this. Do all of the mods have the power to ban members, or is that duty generally left up to administration? (I guess I mean in M2K2's case, since other boards may have different privileges...)

BTW, is it okay to ask this here, or should it have deserved a new topic? I don't know, it's such a small question...

Are you afraid of Acheron? I hope so, since that'd be the only valid reason for asking that question.

But no, doesn't seem like it. At least I just tried to ban you and it didn't work. Blast! :(
Yo.
Nawwwww. Acheron is a pretty cool guy. Eh lols while he moderates and doesn't afraid of Opium. I like him, and he mostly likes me, except on days where I post really weird like my birthday. Funny, ain't that what today is...?

Anyways, just a curious question. Hope I haven't caused any harm!
red chamber dream
Only administrators can ban, but it's usually the mods who request the bans.
...
Another quick question: can mods/admins see and read PMs that are sent?  IUniverse started PMing me as a different account (Metroid Kong) and the next day after he revealed his identity, he was banned.  Just curious, as the abilities of mods and admins are not listed in the rules.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
As far as I know they cannot, but you weren't the only one he was PMing.
I know I can't, and I'm fairly sure admins can't either.
red chamber dream
We can't.
Yo.

Figures IUniverse wouldn't pass up the chance to pick on his own personal troll, eh, Eeriebob? :(

I have another question. Does the No Explicit Material rule extend to things like gore/guro-related stuff? I mean, I'm not saying I'd post anything like that; I hate that kind of stuff. What I want to know is, would someone get in trouble for posting something like that, based on the severity of the ugliness?
