How about a hall of shame with made-up names?
Cook of the Sea
Like, you know, "Asstastic" or something like that. Laughing

See, the thing is, everbody we've ever banned ever (except one person*) was banned for one of three reasons:

Extreme initial misbehavior

Being a spam bot

Not bloody listening when we tell you to stop

There's no helping any of those, and we give you plenty of warnings, believe me. We've never banned anyone just because they were ignorant of the rules.

*The exception is quite an anomaly... See, it happened way back before Scarlet's run and the Great Bandwith Crunch, way in the beginning, when the members were basically the Prime Dream Team and a few random stragglers. Anyway, long story short, check this topic from the old days.
Cook of the Sea
True. Very true. Okay.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Good ol Pseudohobo.
Shoulden't he/she be not banned and the "discovery" ignorned?
red chamber dream
He's done other things ban-worthy besides just that; I believe.

At any rate, I think that having a "Hall of Shame" dedicated to people who have been banned is a bad idea. Yoshi and TRH pretty much said everything that I feel, so there's no need to repeat it.

Well, on the boards, not really. But A) he was apparently known for doing crap like that (Toozin's comment somewhat down the topic) and B) it was a much simpler time back then... the board wasn't big enough to talk about much other than new discoveries.
the precedent for a zero tolerance policy toward breaches of conduct like that comes from before i was "on board" (har har). i can remember reading "we're not fond of disinformation" (probably toozin or kip) in the sequence breaking topic on gamefaqs when i hadn't even posted there yet.

it may be hard to imagine now, but toward the beginning of sequence breaking in prime, new discoveries were being made almost every day, so you could easily pass snake oil off as a panacea on gamefaqs (well, you still can, but the difference was that real sequence breakers would have believed you). to cut down on that, an atmosphere of "theory until proven fact" was adopted, and video evidence was required for "confirmation" of new tricks.

thus, metroid 2002. ;P
I have been thinking that we should have 2 or 4 week [SUSPENTION] for those who break no erotic & E-Mail abuse instead of instant ban.

It's just me, but I've been thinking about that lately.

I was wondering why you specifically picked those out, but then I noticed the only other insta-ban offenses are insubordination (not a first time offense), ban evading (definitely not a first time offense) and trolling (which could easily be overlooked, since it doesn't actually have its own topic). There goes my wild conspiracy theories.

Seriously, though, porn is seriously disruptive, and when we say E-Mail Abuse, we're thinking of harverster bots et. al. Those punishments are staying.

And having a [SUSPENSION] rank as well as a [PROBATION] rank would get confusing. They're too similar of a rank to have.
直死の魔眼使い
Change [SUSPENSION] for [TEMP-BANNED].
red chamber dream
Meh, we're not going to use it anyway.

Please note the change in the "Misuse of Words" rule (i.e. you may now use "retarded" to mean anything you want).

/me interprets retarded post that Arkarian changed retarded rule in literally and uses retarded word "retarded" to mean retarded word "the".

Lol, I realized that and thought about changing my post, but I figured everyone knew what I meant. Rolling Eyes
Minor question:Are bumping and gravedigging the same thing?
直死の魔眼使い
As far as I know, yes.
red chamber dream
I've never heard of "gravedigging," but judging by how it sounds, then yes, I'd assume so. But it's called "bumping" here.
I'll be back. Maybe...
No, gravedigging is different. Gravedigging is where you dig holes to put dead people in. I know someone who does it: I should know.

Anyway...
Bumping is not an intrinsic crime, but it is only useful on a forum without stickies in which case it is used to keep important topics high. However, in other contexts it clutters the forum and it is usually better to create a new topic if you actually have something worthwhile to say.

If you wish to see its misuse on a massive scale, just go anywhere near GameFAQs. Or rather, don't, it'll corrupt you into evil ways.

Um, pardon, but bumping a month-old topic here "just to keep it high" is not allowed. If a topic is deemed important enough, it will already be stickied.

However, if you bump with an important, quality post, it will be allowed.
I'll be back. Maybe...
Perhaps I should reword that: a forum without the capacity for stickies.
red chamber dream
Oh, I assumed you were talking about this forum.
