IIRC ridley died in the first game too, and they cloned him in SM

we're just trying to find a way to make samus reaction understandable, but it really isnt...
At the beginning of Super Metroid, you're given the impression that Ridley basically tosses Samus around like a tin can.  You can't defeat Ridley outright in that fight, and most people just speed up the process.  She probably didn't know Ridley was going to be there, either.  Sure she didn't lose her suit, but the effect of Ridley getting the upper hand on her is the same.

Would I be out of line in guessing that Madeline Bergman is the one who created the X-virus cure with Metroid DNA to save Samus at the start of Fusion?

this would mean that madeline bergman got killed in fusion

I have every reason to believe that there is no deleter, that it was MB all along.  MB was the one who told samus that it was a federation soldier who killed the dead soldier that samus found in sector 2.  There's just one detail that doesn't fit that theory though - who was driving the big mecha that samus fought when she first met MB?  This plot is fucked.

yeah. having no reveal by the deleter himself screwed up that plot completely since we don't get any explanantion or reason for his behavior.
The deleter is James. Noticed how logistically there could only be two left on ship at that point (he shoved one in the lava in the one cutscene) and the other is Anthony. He tried to shoot MB in the cutscene.

As you can see, that didn't work out too well.

My version of the MB scene with the Federation Soldiers.

Federation dude: "Aw, a tender moment... OPEN FIRE!"

XD
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
According to some dude on Gamefaqs, the Deleter's helmet features a faded 07, which matches the faded 07 on James's helmet. He had screenshots that I'm too lazy to go find. Either way, shitty mystery solved.

Fucking shit I hated that Deleter bullshit.

and who dropped KG into the lava?
James did it.
lol no way
So where was he at the end, and who was that admiral guy? How come Samus was allowed to come back and run around doing whatever she wants, when the place was supposed to be top secret? Or is that just because the feds wanted an opportunity to try blowing her up. Only to ask her later to go check out SR388 cause "you know, we just think that place is really interesting is all."
PShaw. It made sense when she wasn't already suspicious of the gfeds' actions. Now that's the only way she could feel; she should feel the way she feels after fusion, before fusion. It's fuckin stupid.
James was dead at the end.  I don't know who that Admiral guy was, some people think it was Dane, but I HIGHLY doubt it.  I think Samus was there because she felt like it.

Well I mean yeah, in the beginning for sure. And because nobody had told her not to be there.
So when she discovered their secret plot, which they had gone to such great lengths to cover up - sending in the deleter to kill adam's whole squad, and the loyal CO himself - do they just not tell her she can't come back? It's not like she doesn't know what they were doing there. Like, "you can't be in contact with the witness." Yeah right, she was a witness herself, she understood events better than anybody else aboard the ship. It's just cool though? Nobody cares? They even enlist her again soon after to be sent to SR388/the BSL station. I can't believe she was willing to work for those kooky bastards again.
Well, I'm guessing that won't happen again after both Other M and Fusion. At least I hope not.

i think that Samus just doesn't really pay attention to stuff unless it says "Space Pirates", "Ridley" or "Metroids" so the feds could be doing all sorts of illegal shit, but as soon as "Space Pirates", "Ridley" and "Metroids" pop up in the equation, she goes all alert and in destroy mode.
otherwise, just another regular day in the galaxy for bounty hunting. that would explain why she was so dumb to work with them again and get herself almost killed at the start of Fusion.
Hey. Samus has to get her money somehow.
They explained his reason multiple times, he was a hired gun.

Also Other M, obivously stands for Other Mother, since this time it isn't Samus loved by a Metroid but MB loved by Metroids.

So the title is a play on it's self Metroid:Other Mother -> M:OM.
Good stuff.
Galactic Federation Commander: "Samus, could you go to SR388 to help us catch very dangerous creatures for some reason that we can't tell you without exposing the fact that we're breaking the law again?"
Samus: "No way!"
Commander: "We'll pay you in beer."
Samus: "ALL RIGHT!"

Apparently, the japanese language files are on the non-japanese copies, too, they just removed the option to switch. :(
DOes anyone else feel that Other M kind of... replaces Fusion? I mean the plot is, apart from the Adam part, exactly the same. As is Samus wouldn't go to BSL and NOT expect metroids again.

There's so many dei ex machina in Other M.

Adam: "They twisted my words to justify the whole bioweapon thing"
Black Ant (now Anthony's official name): "I'm not dead! And can still act under orders, despite Colonel Trautman over there showing up! REMEMBUH ME?!"

These spring to mind immediately, but there are a few more.

we still don't know how much time passed between this and fusion.

and being a mercenary, i think she have in mind that she needs to accept dirty jobs. and GF must pay really good

i don't know why people think samus is lawfull good, she more of a lawful neutral...

See my post about the federation paying Samus in beer.

Until Other M, this would have been true, but she seems like a goody-two-shoes intergalactic superhero aboard the bottle ship.

Other M drastically reinterprets Samus' badassery. Before she was, like Boba Fett, a silent badass. She didn't do or say much, but that made her all the more badass. Now she talks more, but jumps on things and blasts their faces. Still badass, but a different kind.
I still wonder if there were no freeze-resistant metroids, and if Adam really did die at all.  I wonder if the reason that the story was so full of weird holes is because they wanted you to believe alot of things that we would find out in another game were never true at all, and in doing so they kinda forgot that it still has to make sense.

Sector Zero was destroyed, wasn't it?  The only thing that makes me scratch my head is since Sector Zero was blown up, how'd they get Adam's brain into a computer if his brain is space dust?

There were freeze resistant Metroids (or something like Metroids) because of that one scene earlier where Samus found that one creature drained of its' life energy ("Met-er-oids, here?")  So there's no doubt to me that they exist.

i think it was a hoax, adam just got into sector zero to get it out of there and delive it to another galatic federation ship...
