Quote from Nintendo WiFi Connection website:
Your disconnect percentage will also affect with whom you become connected to, as well as your ranking on Nintendowifi.com's

What I gather from this, is if you disconnect intentionally a lot, you're only going to get matched with other people who disconnect, and if you disc from a match you'll lose ranking points even though you wont get a "loss." (I havent really checked this for myself, i'm just quoting the website. So even though you cant see random people's connection % it will affect matchups. Still, i'd advise adding as many random people to your rivals as you can just so you can get a (very rough) idea of how often people are disconnecting,
uh...this guy is thrid place IIRC and he has like 7 dissconects... oh and i bet the legendray hunter "anoymis" who has 1000+ points plays him self...

Was that like, just, three random thoughts strung together? Or do you not realize that disconnecter != laggy person who stays connected?

just remember that not every disconnect is intentional. I've disconnected once or twice. (for one of them, my connect % wasn't affected). The system can apparently tell if you lost your net connection vs. you turned your DS off.
it can't tell if my DS ran outa batteries was unintentionall....stil...now my percentage is 99.6

Not always accurately... I've had weird stuff happen like random matches added to my wireless battle record that never actually took place, or random points taken off when I get disconnected from the host. Fortunately this doesn't happen very much.

A battery shutdown is probably indistinguishable from a power button shutdown as far as the system is concerned.

you have to hold the power button for about 1 second to shut the ds offf... maybe pressing it sends something to the server. Otherwise (as a computer guy) I don't really see how the two can be distinguished- If I'm playing warcraft III and i disconnect during a game by pulling the modem, to the server, the result is exactly the same as if I powered off the compuer or my ISP went down. The connection times out.
