Your disconnect percentage will also affect with whom you become connected to, as well as your ranking on Nintendowifi.com's
What I gather from this, is if you disconnect intentionally a lot, you're only going to get matched with other people who disconnect, and if you disc from a match you'll lose ranking points even though you wont get a "loss." (I havent really checked this for myself, i'm just quoting the website. So even though you cant see random people's connection % it will affect matchups. Still, i'd advise adding as many random people to your rivals as you can just so you can get a (very rough) idea of how often people are disconnecting,
ok ..i am truly SICK of dissconectors....i was at 150 points now i'm down to 70. and theres this guy were i shot him like 5 times with the omega cannon and i heard his death cry and still he had zero deaths...stupidly though he got -1 point so i won...
just remember that not every disconnect is intentional. I've disconnected once or twice. (for one of them, my connect % wasn't affected). The system can apparently tell if you lost your net connection vs. you turned your DS off.

Not always accurately... I've had weird stuff happen like random matches added to my wireless battle record that never actually took place, or random points taken off when I get disconnected from the host. Fortunately this doesn't happen very much.
you have to hold the power button for about 1 second to shut the ds offf... maybe pressing it sends something to the server. Otherwise (as a computer guy) I don't really see how the two can be distinguished- If I'm playing warcraft III and i disconnect during a game by pulling the modem, to the server, the result is exactly the same as if I powered off the compuer or my ISP went down. The connection times out.
