Quote from Poision Envy:
man Azmodan was such a bitch of a fight. The people that just say "Oh Diablo III is just click-to-win grindfest" has obviously never done a boss fight.

Heh, no kidding. Bosses and named/elites are the main stopping points in Nightmare for my brother and I, and for a lot of others from what we've seen. Most of the normal enemies fall pretty quickly unless we screw up or they overwhelm us, but when we run into one of several combinations of buffs such as Shielding and Vampiric, for instance, they can be downright insane. In fact most of the new buffs they add in on Nightmare are a pain to deal with.

yeah, I played co-op for real for the first time today, and enemies are a lot tougher. We ended up running into a group of blues and a yellow together, we must have died six times together.

just finished act iii - easily my favorite setting so far (hell is p. cool), but my least favorite act. a little too one-note. looking forward to act iv!

I feel like this should be posted in here: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/3967848172?page=1

The "darken" affect is too much for me, it really desaturates everything, but the sharpen filter is really nice. You can download just the sharpen filter towards the bottom of the post.

Just killed Diablo on Nightmare. such an intense fight, especially for a squishy. absolutely loving the boss fights, they feel extremely rewarding when you finally take them down. It's not like WoW or most other games where you just do the exact same rotation of abilities, and just wait ten minutes for bosses to die.

This is my current dosh pile. Check that chest piece, three gem slots like a pro.

weird, i just got a few shimmering essences from the blacksmith, even though you're supposed to not be able to get them till nightmare (i'm in act iv of normal)

and nice equipment btw
Club 27 Goals
I think the essences you get are based on the item level of the item itself. I dunno though.

Also I've found two Blacksmith "plans" so far, that lets him make sets of armor. one of which was for the staff to go to the secret level. stupidly, I didn't check the auction house. They sell for anywhere fro 200K - 1.8 mil. Kind of kicking myself for that, probably could've sold it for some real life dosh.

just played the trial. i think it's a bad game, but to be honest i also don't value diablo II much higher. d II definitely has more atmosphere and, because of its age, some sort of excuse for the dumb controls.

i mean who thought this click-fest was a good idea in 2012? even wow plays better with keyboard movement and a large number of skills that can be used with whatever keys you desire. why's the player in diablo III still limited to 6 skills? it plays like one of these "rpg" custom warcraft III maps!

all that aside, it pissed me off that the game has a forced tutorial that was even worse than the forced tutorial of other contemporary games i've played. i also find it questionable that the game forces you to beat it on easy mode first.
red chamber dream
you can turn off practically all the tutorial stuff, right?

but yeah i agree with you on everything else, except i think it's fun.

huh? to be honest every moment of the trial felt like a tutorial to me.

best part was the quest "use the way point and then return". generally i think it would be much better if all these quests were optional.

edit: yeah, tbh i had fun for like 5 minutes and everything after that just annoyed me.
red chamber dream
dunno about the trial but iirc in the real game you can turn off the tutorial tooltips or whatever and just play the game
ahy eah. i didn't even read those, but even the quests felt like tutorial to me
red chamber dream
yeah they are i guess ... just like every other fucking game released these days. it's a problem with the industry as a whole trying to dumb down shit for all the young people playing their games - except there's way more older people playing games. so while it sucks, it's not like diii is any different from any other rpg out there in that respect
i don't know anyone who ever needed turotials for games when they were young
i mean for example diablo II worked extremely well, and d III isn't that different. hell it's even easier to figure out by nature due to the tunneled map design
red chamber dream
exactly my point. the industry is just chock full of marketing retards, like pretty much every other industry
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Finished it last night.  Final boss was ridiculously drawn out for me, as he was almost instadeath from any attack.  It didn't help that I'd got so used to
the Templar tanking for me, and he's not available.

Although it was long, I actually died less times than I did against the lieutenant beforehand.  He was instakilling me like he had nothing else to do.
You talking about Izual? I forget, on Normal does he have the freeze ability like he does later on? Freeze is one of the abilities I hate most of all with my Barbarian since it usually means I get frozen right in the middle of a group or in melee range of a boss if they have it themselves.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Yup, and I didn't seem to even be able to heal when frozen.  Getting frozen was almost always instadeath.
It's one of several things that can hit you where you can't really do anything, the two others I can think of off the top of my head being Diablo's bone cages and anyone with the Jailer ability. At least with Jailer though I'm pretty sure you can still attack and heal since all it does is impair your movement by locking you into place for a few seconds, but it can still be enough time for the enemies to take you down depending on the situation. All 3 of them are pretty annoying.

Funny thing is, for the most part that video is 100% accurate based on a lot of the stories I've heard. My highest is currently 57 since I got stuck against one of the last bosses in Act 2 so I don't have firsthand experience with Inferno yet myself. But everything I've seen/heard doesn't sound good for when I get there with my Barbarian.

What's also great is that they run right past that other kid like he was nothing, for obvious reasons in the clip. But it kinda works as a stand in for the companions since I've noticed that old annoyance from a lot of games I've played in the past where enemies always seem to target the PCs first no matter how bizarre it is for them to completely bypass characters built to tank or draw their attention.
Kormac and Tyrael are especially "good" at doing this it would seem.
Here, better than Diablo3, see the difference in aesthetics alone?

let's all comment on games we haven't played!

Almost happy
Far Cry is the most terrible and casual game ever. Completely insulting to ones intellect, with its terrible AI and level design, not to mention laughable pacing. Anyone who likes it either wrong, insane or a horrible human.

Wow! Who knew being an elitist prick could be so much fun? I'm never going to play games again. Whining about them is so much better.
