Far Cry is the most terrible and casual game ever.
As an elitist you wouldn't say that.

Anyway, just want to know how you feel about it in case some of you have played both of the games.

Here, better than Diablo3, see the difference in aesthetics alone?

As someone who has put ~15-25 hours into Path of Exile, it's pretty shit.

Its story is complete garbage. It forces you to grind in areas that you will see for hours and hours on end. It has very little variation both monster wise, and environment wise. You will fight the same monsters in each place, altered only slightly. Each area tries to be really dark, never using any color, only the dark browns, dark greens, etc.

In the 15 hours you play PoE, you'll see maybe... two different zones. Four if you count beaches and beach caves as two different things. Mostly you'll be in caves though. Why? Because Caves are the easiest to randomly generate. In Diablo in the first 10 hours you can play through Normal entirely with a lot more variation, a real story, items that actually look different, and leveling up means something other than "I now do 5% more damage on my autoattack and have gained 3 intellect".

Path of Exile tries way too hard to copy Diablo II directly, but falls short on a few of the things that made D2 so charmy.

oh but yeah, Path of Exile has a better lighting engine and high res textures, so if that's what you care about, go ahead. This is coming from a graphics whore.

poision layin down tha smack
I haven't meant to address the actual mechanics of the game here. I mainly just meant to address the aesthetics. I mean the combat looks like it has more weight to it. There is no play with the physics-engine which let's everything fly around like plastic. It has a sharper look, the action is visible, less distorted through flashy effects-design and such. Then the health/mana-sphere is large enough and placed at the corners, I think it is much better for visual orientation. How do you feel about all that stuff?

I'm actually on a completely different level of elitism, where I've come full circle and realized that facebook games are the pinnacle of gaming, and that everyone who thinks differently are filthy peasants.

i quite like diablo iii's "visual orientation" ... isn't that a sign of good aesthetics?
red chamber dream
because i have exquisite taste, of course

Well okay to be fair PoE is a free game (with a cash shop of course).

The visual style is much more simple, yeah. In that all your attacks are pretty much the same bland action. The "flashy" effects in D3 make it much easier to see everything going on in a fight because you can see the effects. It isn't all shades of dark brown and green.

PoE is sharper than vanilla D3, but there's a mod on of the official diablo forums that can sharpen or darken, or both.
Haven't played yet but how's the level cap? Is it to low? Are the items insanely hard to obtain like in D2?

60, no, and yes

once you get to hell/inferno you basically have to use the auction house if you want to not die
How's the demon hunter or whatever it's called?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I've enjoyed playing as her so far.  I thought that her low health was causing me to suffer instadeath against any boss, but I had a brief go with the Barbarian, and found the bosses to be the same regardless of who you play as.
What'd you say?
Anyone find any good, safe xp farming spots for the very beginning of the game? I'm playing on hardcore and a few extra levels early on would be a huge help.

if the stash still works on hardcore, try to get as many items that have sockets as you can, then just get level 60 gems and put them on and you'll be set.
I think the softcore and hardcore characters have different stashes and auction houses to prevent that kind of thing.
