I was in the Hydrodynamo area when i saw Dark Samus there (you know, the blue "fog"), when she/he materialized and i heard the "evil laughter"... That's when i thought "Hey, wasn't that just a little bit to low wor a woman?"

So, now i'm just wondering what everybody else is thinking.

Well, Dark Samus isn't a clone of Samus or anything... it's a mutated metroid that absorbed the phazon suit. Unless metroids have genders (I don't think they do since they reproduce asexually), then I think it's best to assume that Dark Samus is an "it". Personally, I find it odd that Dark Samus was laughing at all (just because a metroid absorbed the phazon suit, it has suddenly acquired human habits?).

But in Fusion, they say that the suit has bonded with Samus so that may be why (I do not think we know when that happened to it might've been before MP2).

You also forgot, that in the sequence before Dark Beam Dark Samus says something to Samus.

yeah, and iirc it wasn't clear in prime 2 when it says metroid prime/dark samus now has your "dna," whether it means the dna of the chozo suit or the dna of samus, or both at the same time (which i assume is what the sa-x is). i agree that there's a possibility metroid prime is now female (in a very human sense) if it has absorbed samus's dna.

Well, Japanese resources tended to paint Metroid Prime as a "she". I don't know exactly where the reference came from, but it was something to do with keeping the tradition (MOTHER Brain, QUEEN Metroid, etc).

That said, I can't really picture an evil laugh with a female voice, so I figure that's the reason for the laughing sound. If Dark Samus has a gender at all, I would assume it would be most similar to that of Samus, i.e. female. Just my take on it, though. *shrugs*

MP managed to fuse whatever was left of it's body with samus's DNA and the phazon suit.  It's either female or neuter.  I'm leaning towards neuter...

I always just thought it was called a female because it's a Samus.  'cept dark.  And Samus is female, so, naturally, another Samus would be female...

It also says right in the log book entries of Dark Samus "her" sometimes if I remember. So...

I think Dark Samus is a 'she'. Just because apparently the name 'Samus' is a girls name. =P

Really though, I don't think we are meant to know.

In the logbook it does call Dark Samus a she, so I will say DS is female.

I dont think DS has a real gender. Just a big walking/flying pile of weapons and a weird "voice" So I also consider it an it.
