I just got this baby yesterday, and I cleared the first story mode and busying myself with the second, and here are my views on it thus far:

The battling part is hella fun. It's fast and furious, and the 4-player fights can easily get as chaotic as any given Smash Bros match. There's a huge variety in the different parts and bodies to play with, and it offers a lot of variation in deciding what works best with what. There is some strategertising involved in equiping yourself before fights according to your opponent's abilities, although you can usually get by with whatever you've got as long as you're comfortable using it, at least on the easier modes/settings.

Story mode has been getting some bashings from various crappy websites that may or may not have the initials IGN, but some of it is justified. It's advertised as an "RPG" type mode, but that's really not the case. What it is is a series of battles strung together in a linear fashon with an odd but fairly interesting storyline thrown in the middle. The big blocks of text do seem unnecesary at times, but I can't say I was ever bored with it. Just don't go in expecting any puzzles or dungeons to explore - it's just go to point A, battle, go to point B, battle, repeat. But that's fine by me.

The second story mode that you open up after beating the first is far more interesting. This one doesn't have a plot so much. Instead it's just a bunch of tournaments that you open up one by one. You recieve points based on your performance in the tournament, and medals based on your points. Evidently there's big prizes at the end depending on your medals, but I haven't quite gotten that far. You can go back to beaten tournaments to up your score, and it saves your high score for each one, which is nice.

I haven't spent too much time with arcade mode, but it's pretty basic. I'm sure you can immagine what it's like from the name, although they offer a bunch of modes like 2 vs. 2 and tag team tourneys.

A bit of a downside is that you have to beat that first story mode before you can't do, like, ANYTHING. You can't even fight CPUs in VS mode until you've cleared it. So if you end up hating the story mode, you're kinda screwed.

Played a little multiplayer before I had many parts unlocked. It was fun, but I'd like to try it again with the inventory I've got now. More combonations = more fun. Seems like it's a smashing good multiplayer title, with it's plethora of customizations and easy to comprehend controls.

All in all I think it's a rip roaring good time and worth checking out.

Hmmm. Your avatar shows a robot. <_<

This game sounds like fun. I remember playing something that sounded like this a long time ago (can't remember the name since it was only a demo for PS). I don't even know what system this game is for. But I'll probably save what little money I have for one of the newer games.

BTW if I had to choose, which one should I get, MP2 or LoZ (the adult link one).  I hope I can get some unbiased answers here.  Wink
You don't have to choose: the new zelda is slated for '05.

But if you still can't get both, go with what you want. The fact that you're a moderator here suggests you prefer metroid, but I don't know anything about your game choices.

Jeez, that would be a tough decision for me. Luckily I'm not in the position right now of choosing between killer apps...

EDIT: On topic, that game sounds really cool. I guess I'll do a rental.
Zelda or Metroid...damn, that's hard. Er, I'd probably see which one my friends get more of, then take the one they get less. They'd probably get Zelda knowing them, so I'd probably take Metroid. Good thing they come out different years. I have a feeling Prime 2 will come out Nov. 18 as the big holiday release.

Anyways, about Custom Robo, I think it's pretty good. I played the store demo a few times and I liked it. Unfortunatly I was at Wal-Mart so it hurt my neck to look up so much.
I'm gonna have to go ahead and say Zelda AND Metroid, with Metroid as the priority.  But for now, I'm lookin at Custom Robo or PSO III or something.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I'm getting MP2 to tide me over until Zelda comes out, so I've got both and could probably beat one in time for the next to come out. Sadly enough I planned that out yesterday by just seeing the Zelda trailer.

Ready and willing.

Gamecube. In fact, it's first-party. Remember the Custom Robo trophies in SSBM?

I played a demo of it at the mall... kept my interest, but not something I wouldn't rent first.

Hmmm...

*whips out a calculator*

Okay, take the not, multiply that by the suare root of negative wouldn't, carry the rent.......denominator.....

So you're saying you would want to rent before buying, right?

Ack! How could I have forgotten?
I rented this game, and to my surprise, this game kicks ass!!
Just Have to say holy Gablorg!
the demo actually didn't interest me, which is a shame, i had high hopes for this game.

Likewise, i'll try it more before buying, but unlike most nintendo first party games, this one isn't a  "buy it because i know its going to be awesome"

...I really can't say much though, i do own medabots AX (rokusho) for my GBA.
