In Metroid Prime 1 the levels were pretty easy to memorize up until the phazon mines, then I had to use the map quite a lot to find my way around for a while. But after several playthroughs, I finally know where to go and where everything is without using the map. The level design makes sense in MP1, its like a real place...kind of in a space pirate crazy way... MP2 was pretty good about making sense in the beginning, but to hell if it was just a huge twisting mess in the later areas, but not that bad compared to MP3.
SkyTown. Who the hell designed this place? not even the map is very helpful with rooms overlapping in side and topdown views, its very hard to get a fix on your location using the map, and which door to go though to put you on the right zipline road to the next floating building. I havn't played MP3 since I first beat it at launch time. I decided to go again and saw that I had a half finished hypermode run going. I apparently beat the game and started my file over on hyper, then gave up at one point. Well, now I am trying to finish it, but I am stuck at the Dark Samus fight at the end of the game. The space pirate planet is the worst though for twisted levels. Combined that with the transit system which doesn't show the train connections on the map, I literally have no idea where to go to get from point A to point B besides wandering around and hoping I end up at the right place. The only saving grace is the Gunship that I frequently use to pseudo warp from one point to another.
And another thing that I was wondering since I found that first ship missile expansion. What good are they for?
Are there more places to use bombing runs other than the required rooms to clear debris. And how do you refill/check how much ship missile ammo is left?
/End pointless ramble.
