Control Setup for ZSNES

Is there any way to change this? I really don't like some of the buttons. I'd rather use WASD for moving, and the buttons on the right for weapons and stuff like that..

Yeah. Go to the Config menu and then Input 1.
Then just change all the keys to what you want.

You seem to be using the L key twice. Are you going to shoot diagonally at every enemy you see? Laughing

Anyway, I can eke out some playtime with this:

Arrows: Directions
A: A
S: B
Z: Y
X: X
D: L
C: R
Enter: Start
Shift: Select

Works for FF3

Ah yes, I meant I used the K button for Y, not L. Anyways, Since half of those buttons are already being used for moving, I don't think I'll use that. So just wondering. BTW, my keyboard is weird and doesn't have a numpad, but instead has a button that turns half the letter keys into the numpad. So for numpad suggestions, I'll use the letter keys.

After looking at that I realize I have only half of those buttons...well, anyways, I think I'll stick with what I have for now. my main problem is with the L&R buttons, and the fact I'm doing top down and not with my thumb. Once I'm over that, I'll be good to go.

Use a Shift/Ctrl/Alt key for fire. I cannot stress this enough. WIthout it, you'll be struggling to find a combo that lets you charge while dashing or jumping due to the limitations of a keyboard. I forgot who said this (someone on the forums) but now I can actually sort of play on the computer.

ASWD = movement
Caps Lock = L
Space Bar = Start
Num 4 = Y
Num 5 = B
Num 6 = A
Num 8 = X
Num + = R
Num 0 = Select

Pretty much like the SNES pad.

R: space
start: f 1 and num 3 at the same time
select: alt and f 4 at the same time

Never had a problem with this, even when playing Contra. This was before I got my cheap gamepad

default is cool, with three fingers you can do anything in this game and maybe more :p. I personally think that's the best key combination for the keyboard.

even though i don't own an emulator, after playing all those shmups, this is what i'd most likely do

move: keypad (up down left right)

Y = z
B = x
A = c
X = v
L = s
R = d
pause = enter
select = space (or perhaps shift)

but, likewise, i don't play any emulators, or any sort of platforming game on the computer.

but, all those japanese shmups have gotten my hands accustomed to that position on the keyboard, and its really quite comfortable.

I dont have the Letters for the controller memorized so here is what I have for Super Metroid:

A=Dash
Z=Cancel
S=Jump
X=Fire/Select
D=Point gun down diagonaly/Left Menu
C=Point gun up diagonaly
Enter=Map
Right Shift=Switch between weapons
Up Arrow=Up
Down Arrow=Down
Left Arrow=Left
Right Arrow=Right
