Well, not so much transcribed as it is represented. That way is mainly as a function in programming languages or more generally as a way to IMPLEMENT square roots, rather than DISPLAY them. Another method is to build one from a check mark and underlines on the line above, like this:

i've actually considered reviving it several times over the past few weeks but i don't think i could match what i was doing before, which would be pretty pathetic. that by no means rules out it being revived in the future though.
