Nevermind all that. Just had some inspiration: I don't want highjump anymore, I want Springball.

Just Springball and Gravity, the rest of the items in my area will either be plain missiles or etanks.

I've already claimed it, but if you absolutely must have it, let me know, though I'd rather keep it.

That list should be updated then, cause it wasnt there.

At this rate I may as well not take an upgrade
Also, I'm pretty sure, after reviewing all the posts in this thread, Spazer was calimed by you, and nobody else. Fizzer put it in the list for you, but wasn't sure of the area you'd be taking. So spazer is still yours if you want it.

um, no. I did put spazer in kraids area. :/
Fizzer seriusly needs to put down who got what items in the first post. I can easliy change to some other beam if it is so.
But we need to know. :/

Ok, so who gets Spazer and who gets spring ball? I'll wait for that information before adding LRs area to the map, and do it all at once.
I can give up springball if need be, since my main item is Gravity, a fairly serious item.

Right now, I've just finished designing Croco's room, and the room after him, but neither of those rooms require me giving the springball, so its cool if I don't get it. Keep in mind, without Springball, the player will be unable to get gravity without some fairly insane, Kriole-style, CWJing. So it needs to be able to be gotten without Gravity suit.

So, update on my area: 2 rooms down, 1 room ignored (save room), and 8 to go.

Also, how should we go about indexing items? I've decided not to add any items to any rooms of mine, just keeping the available ones' indices (or low or whatever you call it) the same, and changing the actual item. If anyone plans on changing a door to an item or adding items in rooms, make sure you take the index of another item in your area, so nobody's items get erased (essentialy). It would be terrible for a player to get all the way to my Gravity suit, only to find that because they got an extra pack of missiles in brinstar, no gravity suit exists.

Surely the best way is to not to change any indexes, and not to add items to a room, i also think that for every door that becomes an item, an item somewhere must become a door, and they switch indexes.
For minor items such as expansions, stick with the ones in your defined area, best not to use any more or less.
Also who is in favour of getting rid of reserve tanks to create a key/artifact system for either Tourian, Lower Norfair, or GTs room?
Aye! (Also please explain how one would go about doing such)

hey.
i want to help.
has ceres station been reserved?
if it is. what hasnt.
I'm pretty sure it hasn't *looks around wildly preparing the "I'm so wrong" facepalm*

Just be careful, I've never edited Ceres before, but from what I've heard, things can go wrong easily.
Devonodev: Other D
i will edit ceres.
but is wall jumping allowed?
Almost happy
Think so, just nothing extreme.

Well people have the freedom to design their area however they like, but having ceres too hard wouldnt be good for the popularity of the hack, then again some simple wall jumps wont hurt anything.
I'll add you to the map when i get on my own PC. does anyone know if items work in ceres?
Their sprites look a little odd in there sometimes (strange shading effects) but they do work. The big problem is that there's no CRE, so shotblocks, crumble blocks and some stuff like that don't look right.
Oh, so ceres is like Kraid's room in that regard? I know when I was tyring to edit it for my other hacks, I was having so much trouble with horrible looking blocks.
YAY TEXT
Ive succesfully edited ceres many a time, including altering room dimensions, but never tried out items there, but thought on a whim it might be a cool idea to have morph ball or something there which is needed to escape.

Well with Kraid's, his tileset actually overlays the CRE. You'll notice this if you were to connect Kraid's room to a room that doesn't refresh tilesets, since all the CRE tiles from then on will be screwed up until it gets refreshed. Also, this is why the shade of his metal doors are different than the metal doors anywhere else; someone didn't copy the palette exactly.

With Ceres, there literally is no CRE (as you can see when you look at Ceres rooms in SMILE; the CRE isn't available for use).

So basically the same effect but different circumstances that cause it.

This means no item in ball or shot block as it will be glitched.

note: morph-ball can only be in normal form any way since if you place morph-ball in ball or shot able it will give spring ball instead.

Also, Kraids area is done BTW. Since I added ExGFX to kraid area tile set that is the same as red brinstar tile set. The one who is making red brinstar may also be able to use the sector 2 GFX I ripped from fusion. (Note I did NOT over write the normal red brinstar tile set.)

So if any one wants to make red-brinstar. Please contact me before hand so I can send my patch to that person.*Looks att BT*
Also, we shouldn't really have items in Ceres unless we're careful eith PLM pointers and indices and stuff.

You can change the 'Value' of the ball from 0002 to I think 0004 for it to work.

So how are we doing this, designing our part of the hack and then sending it to fizzler?

On a side note, I may put Spring Ball in the Gauntlet, so the player will have it before Gravity Suit (Cardweaver, that should make you happy), as well as turn all the green and yellow doors on the way to the WS into red doors, as well as add helper platforms to negate the need for Grapple Beam.
Thanks for the update on springball, but given that my area is completely optional, they'll need springball to get Gravity, but I'll make the area escapeable without it.

will changing the size of the rooms in ceres interfere with other peoples rooms?  last question. i promise!
and i found out that the shotblocks have glitched graphics. its really anoying Evil or Very Mad

but i was thinking just of changing the level design and adding a couple of easy walljumps

lol, fizzler

EDIT: soz for double post. i forgot about the other post aiwebs_023
as to how we're doing this, I thought we would make a patch when we finished our part, then send it to the next person, who would directly edit their section in. I'm not entirely sure how patches work, so maybe its best if Fizzer answers this one. I'm good with anything, seeing as my area is small. But Huge areas, like Fizzer's would be a pain to have to hack in manually.
