Well I know you can start at 0:00 if you get an escape time of 44.xx by resetting when the space station is about to explode but, for some reason it keeps putting me a 0:01. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is the Wii Virtual Console just different?

Hello dude. Do you mean start on zebes with 0:00. If so you might have to get to ridly faster then. If your escape is 44.xx which is very good then i suggest making the process of getting to ridly a bit faster by jumping off ledges instead of falling off them. Don't run into doors, wait for them to open and then run, maybe damage boost off a tile in the escape.

Yea that's exactly what I'm talking about. For some reason I don't think the game timer starts until the countdown starts because a while back I stayed in Ceres Station for about 5 minutes and it still gave me a 0:01. Also I do jump off the ledges and I don't run into the doors either.

That is interesting. I diddn't know that. Well coz i play on PAL even if i escape with 45 on the clock i still get 0:00 and at the moment i'm playing on the snes.

sorry 0:01 i get

Really? Is there just something I don't know? I know it has to do with resetting as the station starts to explode but, there must be more to it.

I've never had 0:00 but at what point exactly are you resetting the game. What i did a bit earlier was play ceres. ridly flew off i escaped with 44:30 or something and then i pressed reset when the screen went black just after touching the elevator. and the clock was still 0:01

Its supposed to be when the station appears on the screen or when it starts to explode. Red Scarlet did it when it started to explode and Hotarubi did it in his RBO when the Station appeared.
professional chin scratcher
yea i remeber hotarubi doing that too. i think it saves a bit of real time if people are into that as well. does it save in game time though. what exactly is the game taking out that acts as gameplay time when we reset at the specific point

Supposedly it does because it resets the SRAM or something like that.

interesting for a segmented run for sure. i wonder if the reason it ses 0:00 is because the time starts when your ship is coming to the surface planet with all the rain outside. but if you reset at the wrong time and you load up as normal it ses 0:01 because you ve allready made that little trip from the sky to the surface. if that all makes sense lol

Yea its just pretty much that you don't have to do Ceres again. Which I truly hate more that anything in the game.
professional chin scratcher
hehe i usually don't worry about any mistakes i make in ceres too badly because on the whole it's quite insignificant.

I guess that's true. I would like to think that it saves in game time as well but, I'm not to sure about this.
professional chin scratcher
Yea i'm totally unsure myself. i think the reson it ses 0:00 at all is because it loads up at an ealier spot that's all.

Hopefully someone who knows will like to explain this because its bothering the hell out of me.

hehehe well i'm doing some testing right now because i just died doing a test 100% run hahah. i just did a shiespark to gravity chozo but then realised mid flight i diddnt have enough health and then fell on the spikes and died lol

Wow! That really sucks. :( That's the only reason why I hate the Wrecked Ship in a 100% run is because of energy conservation. Can be rough in especially in a SS.
professional chin scratcher
indeed. wrecked for me is the hardest part of the 100% run. luckily it's reasonably near the begining of the game. also power bomb conservation is a concern in wrecked ship

This is true that is why I segment.

Anyway going off topic some more. LOL. I don't know if you seen my YouTube page recently but, I have a video that might interest you. About the video if and when you watch it. I just thought I tell you I also figured out a way it is possible from the Power Bomb door. Although it is very hard to do. I will probably have a video up later on this week.

I think last time i checked your page was about last week. i'll check it right now

Just watched that video. That was absolute quality Very Happy. right now im just trying to think of an application for that in a speed run. I knew about this trick but i only thought it was useful for like a TAS in that room near ridly in lower norfair. had no idea you could use it here too. coz near the end of a 100% speed run. i out into the surface of zebes and diagonal shinespark to the power bomb door to get the power bombs. on the way out i prepare shinespark on and drop down onto the platform you charged your shinespark in the vid and activate horizontal shinespark to the door. of course the door is closed. so i have to do space jump with screw attack to get through all the pillars. which i can do well

I don't even think TASers have figured out the method I have from the Power Bomb area above. Its very hard to time but, could maybe benefit in a speed run. Like I said I will post a video of that as well and an explanation along with it.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder

Not at all. It's a little complicated but it doesn't actually take much knowledge of SM's workings to understand.

When you finish Ceres, two (possibly more) saves are made automatically. The first is before the cutscene of Ceres blowing up. The second is when Samus's ships stops on Zebes. The first has a lower timestamp because time is counting while Samus's ship is landing. From a quick glance, there's no actual advantage of using the first save because you're always going to lose a bit more time waiting for the landing.
The advantage of using that save comes from if you're doing a segmented run. If you reload from the second save, you lose a bit more time from the load animation. I measured it years ago, I think it was on the order of 7 seconds or something. Reusing the first save gives the same time as if you played the whole thing in one sitting, IIRC.

Thanks for the explanation Kejardon but, do you know exactly how its done?
