When it came to escaping from Celestial Archives, after securing the second Octolith in that area, you are given loads of time - 8:30 if I remember correctly. But it took me two attempts to get out!

The first time, I encountered Guardians in all three Data Shrines and the Helm Room. I think there were 1, 2, 1 and 3 in those rooms. I didn't get out in time. The second time, however, there were no Guardians in Data Shrine 01, so it saved some time.

Seeing as the appearance of Guardians is sort of random, it is possible to get so many that it is virtually impossible to escape in time, isn't it! Do you ALWAYS have to kill them before you can leave the area? The door normally locks, but does it ALWAYS lock during the escape sequences?

Finally, if I get a perfect file with no deaths, does anything special happen? Is it worth going for?

Cheers,

Matt

I don't think it would ever be totally impossible, even if you got 3 guardians on every room, you could just use your hardest hitting attacks (fully charged judicator, super missiles and imperialist).
Hmm. I can't remember what weapons I had at the time (trying to get the fifth Octolith back to the ship), but even when I got the Imperialist, the way they run around like headless chickens makes it so hard to hit them sometimes! Other times I get lucky and kill them almost straight away, but I'd say that if you end up facing loads of them, odds are you won't get out in time unless you're a very good shot indeed. I'm pretty sure there's nothing for a no-death game, and it's a good job too - it's far too hard, and when it's a choice between starting a room back or starting back at the Gunship, resetting all progress made in between, I know what I'd choose. My very first playthrough was going to be a no-death game, for the first level or two, then I soon changed my mind!

Arrgh, that horrible space section with all the holes and empty spaces! I died so many times last time there - the bloody thing kept jumping off the lifts into the abyss - I wasn't double clicking! It's too sensitive sometimes... I don't think the "sensitivity" setting affects the double click detection...

Cheers,

Matt
