on some sites i know (ocremix forums) you can change your name at will.
its horrendously annoying, becuase some people seem to change their name weekly, and its really hard to keep up.
they are also phpbb, and have a far larger community than here, so it may be a good idea if you want, but its not like im going to change my name again.

Okay, I enabled the name change thing, but keep in mind this is for YOUR CONVENIENCE, and if I see frequent, unnanounced name changes I will disable it and be cranky and lock your name as something like Asstastic. At the very least, let the mods know if you decide to change your name to something drastically different. If it's just like a change Syl and Mclean just made, you don't need to bother.

There;s a guy on the Star Wars message boards that changes his SN about every two days. His "real" SN is FiRe_PhOeNiX, but he's always changing it. One day it was "Lost in SNLand".
Not that I would try anything like that or am suggesting it. I might change mine, though...

I'm personally already getting annoyed by all the name changes.
hopefully this is just a short phase that won't last long, but its just heavily annoying. Perhaps you could add some sort of timer on it? Like you could only change your name once every 7 day period or somesuch, just so that we don't get 4 people named "april fools" (or some derivative of) just to be named "Potatomato-san" the next few hours.

Yeah, I will not put numbers on the end of my SN unless they are integrally connected to the SN I'm choosing. If someone else already chose the SN I want, then they got it, too bad for me. Of course, who else ever chooses Saber in Blue?
Not to diss people that do like numbers. On these boards especially, the odds of two people wanting the same name are slim to none, and we don't see people with different versions of "Samus" or "Metroid" or something like that.

Ha this is cool... I was just thinking how I might want to make a new account so I could have a different username, but if I can change it, that's way more convenient. Iamamano is my AIM screen name, but it confuses people cuz of all the a's in between every letter. I'll probably change it to something easier, or at least, more cool, if I can think of something. But, don't worry, I'll let you know what I change it to.
