Super Metroid Impossible: works great so far
Super Metroid boss: No =(

You can play super metroid on DS?

Flash Cart Emus!

I'm not entirely sure if you can play patched ROMs though. Try it out.

I can transfer wirelessly to my cycloDS so I guess I'm going to try it.
You can play super metroid impossible on ds but the graphic is really crappy. You shouldn't play it on ds.

Holy Crap, I didn't know this stuff existed!!  Thank you Azor for starting this thread.  I'll have to order this stuff so I can try my favorite SNES games and hacks on my GBA, thank you.  Hopefully the graphics don't suffer too much....

If you ever want to get some good performance on a DS, get a Slot-1 Flash Card (one that supports Micro/MiniSD, which ever you prefer, like M3, R4, CycloDS, EZ-Flash). As for the SNES Emulator, get SNEmulDS (best one I hear is around, and in SM, few minor bugs).

Thanks for the info.  Is it possible to put more than one game on the cart, such as a few short games or a few hacked games, space permitting of course??  Or would you have to put just one game per cart??  Thanks.

I bet that you could put hundred of roms in one cart. It depend on how many spaces you have.

Yay It is possible to play metroid impossible!! Now I have to clear it without savestates (savestates have weird behavior).

I would recommend you to get a cycloDS, it has great compatibility and a bunch of other extras other cards do not offer.

I have snemulDS and from playing Super metroid I can tell you this:
-Overall the game runs great in a good framerate.
-The game doesn't crash
-The controls work fine too

Some bugs:
-After some time playing samus's sprite becomes a little funny. Nothing to worry, you just touch the "fix graphics" button and everything is nice and beautiful again.
-You have to turn off the "automatic ordering" to view the menu. It's just a quick click and solves the problem. You can even manually order the layers so that you don't have to toggle that option.
-Maridia's main rooms run very slight slowdowns which are almost unnoticable. It could have been better if I clicked on fix graphics, I never did so in Maridia.
-You have to use the map configuration to view kraid's body.

Some epic bugs:
-Thanks to the layers you can always view samus, even if she is on a tunnel and this helps in some mazes and speedrun setups.
-Phantoon is always visible. Not vulnerable thought, for that you have to wait as you would on snes.
Just to let you know, you're not limited to just super metroid impossible. every hack out there, other than redesign, has worked fine on my flash card.
also..savestates don't work..? They've never given me a problem they've been only slightly troublesome for me.(I CAN'T SAVESTATE ON MY OWN HACK Evil or Very Mad)

btw I'm using an EZ flash 5
No savestates? I hope you have slowdown, Draygon is quite evil.

To me, savestate is working just fine. I used M3DS real.

Well i havea cycloDS. Savestates do work but for some reason when I load them it retains the audio of where I was previously(before the savestate) and crashes in some places (this happened in megaman X and I don't feel like trying it on metroid).

By the way I have a really big problem. I am playing without savestates and saved at norfair so that I could then battle kraid. However for some reason it didn't save my progress and I'm back to my ship (on my save after getting morph ball bombs). Does anyone know why isn't my progress being saved?

1: Normally, the problem is that states and save data are in different categories.

2: IIRC you have to tap "Save" or something like that (the option's somewhere on the touch screen).

And my birthday's coming up in a few days, what flash card do you suggest?
I haven't played snemulds for a while but I think you need to tap the bottom-right panel, then tap "save sram", or tap the bottom left panel and tap the box next to "auto save sram".

Get the ezflashV, playerman!

Enlighten a beginner, what exactly is SRAM save?

Also is all this related to the savestates and how to get them to work?

Lastly, get cycloDS. It has a ton of features other cards do not offer like real time saves (Dunno if they are perfect, never tried them but they are already on stable versions so they should be fine), slowdowns for hard parts, they are working on an in-game text reader, an option to view the boxart of a game while selecting it, they have really great compatibility even with the most troublesome games and they have a really great crew behind it that incorporates features you request. I have a friend with an R4 and I'm absolutely positive the cycloDS is much better. Besides the crazy chinese R4 staff are threatening on bricking DSs running fake R4 so you never know if your is real.

Savestates are freeze-flash data, Static RAM (SRAM) is true cartridge memory (in some emus like Snes9X, you can pretty much save the RAM to the latest point, regardless of states, but you have to save it through the menu).

I'm sure someone else knows all the details of how they work.

Thanks for the info. Now I need to ask someone to buy it for me.

So are you telling me my metroid impossible progress isn't being saved because I disabled automatic SRAM saving?
I want to buy the cycloDS, but im confused.  on the products homepage there are three items:  CycloDS Evolution, miniDS, & microSD.

Even after reading the descriptions I'm not sure what I'll need.  I thought that all I would need is the Evolution to go with the SDRAM card that I already own.  Not sure what the MiniDS & MicroDS are, or whether I would need those.

Can someone check out the page I'm talking about and answer for me?  Thanks in advance.

I can tell you

CycloDS evolution is the slot 1 card (the DS games slot) this card is able to run any DS game you get plus a lot of homebrew games and applications. The one I have and recommend you to get.

CycloDS miniSD is a slot 2 cartridge (the gba slot) and works for playing gba games on your advance, SP or DS. Basically it's just a card designed to run gba games and application meant to use the gba's specs.

CycloDS microSD is a miniSD but for the DS lite.
Cool thanks, just ordered evolution.    Was cheap, only $53 w/free shipping.  I gots me a new toy !

Trying to order CycloDS Evolution ($67.99 because I'm ordering a 2 SD Card with this, no EZ-Flash expansion).

Bloodsonic, lemme guess, you got this?
Got one more question.  Do I have a good flash card to use for the evolution?  here it is:
