The no story version is actually a little depressing, just seeing what could have been...  Sad

What do you mean.
Here is what I was trying to say.

This run is faster than my regular any% run, and this run is 100%..
When d fang tried the 0% trick he even saved before sector 3, bio didn't.

Okay then, I did understand your meaning completely. It seems that you really just don't understand the definition of a TAS at all.

He is not holding controller. He is not playing the game. He is not fighting epic battles or displaying any gameplay skill at all. He is sequencing all the controls that are going to be done on each individual frame. If he's not several minutes faster than the record, than it's an epic failure. Dragonfangs only used a savestate to try that trick and measure the amount of frames it takes, and the amount of frames the shinespark is held, to judge if it's possible to do on the console, and then try it in real time.

You cannot compare a console run to a TAS run. It's not because it's offensive, it's just because it does not make any sense. The attention to detail and the patience is great, and is a skill, and that is important in console running, but to a much lesser extent, and is a much lesser part of doing a console run.

I still enjoyed the TAS, and it's extremely flashy and entertaining. I enjoy console speedruns for completely different reasons. They each serve a different purpose, and to say one is better than the other requires that one be of such poor quality that it's not even entertaining, or else the comparison doesn't make any sense at all.

I always feel that the other thing to remember with TASs is that they are usually created for entertainment over skill, whereas console runs are usually skill over entertainment, most likely due to the insane focus required.
Jagger ftw
I know what tas is, am just saying that in d'fang's tas, he probably though that he is gonna mess up the 0% trick, so he saved before that. and bio didn't bother saving
...
BioSpark probably has done the trick so many times that he doesn't bother worrying over it anymore.
Almost happy

But then you don't know exactly what a TAS is. Even tough you can't see it, BioSpark most likely saved the game several thousand times during the making of the movie, and he loaded over 70000 times, he most definitely did save before and probably even in the middle of making the 0% trick, you just can't see it. In a TAS you have a unlimited amount of saves, a unlimited amount of retries and unlimited reaction time.
Jagger ftw
you can load during a recording?
so what did you think tas is?

Yes, you can.  And that's what you do with a TAS, you move a few frames to figure out a route, then try another, then another.  When you find the best route, you save, and then do the next few frames in the same manner, ultimately (several thousand frames later) ending with a complete playthrough of a game.
I think gu3st is thinking of dfang's old segmented tas, but really I have no idea what gu3st is saying.
Speedrunner
I just watched it. This was really nice job again Biospark.

Especially bosses was amazing job. And i loved your style use shine sparks. Next i hope see your runs on console.  Because it looks you have alot potential speedrun that game.

This was REALLY GREAT TAS. I loved almost every seconds. Especially BOX-fights. Very Happy

Congrats Wink
Jagger ftw
I know in tas you  can skip few frame and do some crazy stuff in slow motion, and I know that you can record, but i didn't know that you can load an save state and keep on record (like if you messed up)

Yes, they're like a second set of save states, and I think they even have a different extension, so they remain separate from your game ones.  This is the only way to do it, as most TASs, even ones that come in with a time under an hour, require months of work, which makes these 'movie states' invaluable.

Mister ...
Wow ... just wow.  Each boss fight - you blink and you've missed it completely.  I was laughing every time some nifty little trick was pulled off.  This is among the greatest things I have ever seen.  Applause

I have to agree with Tomatobob: the bosses must have done something very horrible to BioSpark at one point in his life.

Maybe his old Electrode avatar was always frowning at the bosses of Fusion--for whatever they did to him.  Maybe they killed one single-segment run too many.
Gu3st, don't be a moron and don't get off topic.
Jagger ftw
weren't you gonna go for ss 1%?

Downloading it now.  My 'net connectivity has been, shall we say, suboptimal lately.  Looking forward to it.

Gosh, I'm watching it as I write this... Yakuza was ass raped, totally, and so was Nightmare... can't wait to see you kicking Ridley-X's ass(just finished watching you kill Nightmare)... I'm so gonna play Fusion when I get home

EDIT: Now I really think that Sammie hates Ridley xD... awesome... You are the MAN, SPARKY
*sigh* Didn't we have this whole conversation years ago about how inappropriate it is to use the term "rape" for this sort of thing?

Also, you do realize that Biospark and Sparky are different people, right?  The latter is not a great nickname to use for the former because of that.

Oh, and Biospark, I did watch your regular run too.  Very nice, although the main thing I recall thinking is THAT'S his name?  I hadn't realized that you had started TASing because you didn't have the equipment to record speedruns at the time.
