That's pretty bonkers man. I think I heard about it, but I was not too sure. It would've been cooler to watch it, then actually try running through it to see how hard it all really is... I mean, to do that before other m takes over for a week or two. I thought I'd written good job, but I hadn't so: Good job man! Really. I mean for what it's worth I figured out the cheese strats for nightmare and ridley on my own (though ridley is like fuckin duh)
if your nightmare strategy is the one i'm thinking of, then i think it's slower than whatever i did. of course that's probably irrelevant to almost everyone because their highest priority during that fight is surviving, not going fast.
Very Nice BioSpark. If you can do in in under :30 then I'll give you 600 respects. I'm playing Ice Metal right now so i'll be playing a runthrough of fusion after that.
Nothings Impossible if you put your mind to it. If you use all the shortcuts in the game then its possible. I could probably beat it in :31 if I REALLY tried.
Rule of thumb: If you impress ajbolt, you're a helluva Metroid player. Can't wait to see the run, Spark.
Batista, give it up. Real life isn't Naruto -- some things are just plain impossible no matter how much you believe in yourself. Until/unless something is found in Fusion that actually defeats the game's coding, 0:30 is as far out of reach as 0:01.
You refer to manga? Life isn't a book, But it's true that most of the things in the world are impossible. So :30 probably won't be happening anytime soon.
You're missing the point. Physically scrolling through all of the game's unskippable text takes half that time alone, let alone actually playing anything. You're also arguing with people like BioSpark, who currently holds both of the current world records, for the TAS and the unassisted run. This means that there are few people in the world who know the game so well, so when they tell you what's likely / possible, you should take it on board.
the computer conversations don't count toward in-game time. but the elevators do, and those are pretty slow. not to mention the running to get to each sector at the top of each elevator.
After getting into speedrunning again with Metroid Prime I picked up Fusion a week ago and attempted two single segment runs to refresh my memory, since it was more than a year ago that I had played Fusion, which both resulted in a time of 0:53 minutes, which was kind of a letdown, because my best time ever achieved was 0:51 (I think I never gained 0:52 in my life - it was always either 0:51 or 0:53 ).
Well, I just finished another attempt and first of all I'd like to thank BioSpark for his indirect assistance! Sounds a bit odd, but it's so true: The reason, why I started Fusion today, was because I wanted a head to head race with BioSparks SS 0:48 run. So I started his run and the run of mine simultaneously, curious for the time difference after finishing the run. It was such a cool and challenging experience and it was definitely the most intense run I did at Fusion. Seeing another person running through this game really pushes yourself to your limits.
Long Story short: For the first time I got a 0:50 (ss any %)
The first few minutes we were doing almost frame by frame equally well, when I got ahead of him for about 3 seconds at the end of sector 1. It was a few rooms further in sector 2 when he finally outran me and that was about it. I can summ up my results by saying, that he got his screen with his time just as the credits started at my game.
Few things that I could improve were some speedtricks I screwed up, but I lost a lot of time due to some of the boss doors. Even after getting the charge beam which speeds these things up, there were some doors which shot about 4 (!!!) times before finally revealing their eye. Btw I picked up a third ET becauce I already have started one attempt before and screwed up badly at Ridly resulting in my death which was pretty frustrating at this point of the game... It is quite easy for me to understand now how brilliant BioSpark's run actually is with only some minor mistakes. It was an hounour to race you - thanks again for this push
PS: 2 1/2 years ago this would have been a new record in the ss category - getting destroyed only some time later
