I'm not sure how far above 47 I got, but I did have some not so good Yakuza an Netorri fights. And a few other things which I let slide because it was not a big deal at the time.
Good news! I'm not done with segment four, but I know I can get 18, with about 30 seconds to spare. Just a few minutes ago, I was practicing, and I had a ton of mistakes, like slow BOX fight, missed jumps, and messed up shinespark tricks. I had alot of mistakes, but still barely had 18 at the savepoint. Look who's faster than dawgs, AND sess!
kridly, try to remember to be careful with your tape, etc. you may even want to start sending me a couple segments at a time so i can capture them and distribute them across multiple machines, so there's no longer a significant chance of you losing part or all of your run. (the actual release of the run would still happen all at the same time if you wanted.) just an idea.
How would I send you only part of it at a time? It's all on the same tape. The answer is probably a no brainer, but I don't really know much about this kind of stuff. I've started ejecting the tape as soon as I stop recording, and it hasn't gotten stuck again yet.
I'm kinda low on money, and hopefully I'll have enough to buy echoes when it comes out. I'm just going to keep it on one tape, and send it all in when it's done. I think I'll send this run, and the SS run at the same time, and then work on my MZM 100% normal, and MZM 100% hard no damage run(maybe).
I think I'll start making attempts to beat it when I get my hands on some more tapes, though at the moment I'm working on some Resident Evil runs with the few tapes I have left
Mine isn't SS, so I ain't going to have to compete with you(lucky for me). I don't really have much competition, and I don't know the record for 100% normal(segmented), so my guess would be that it ain't that good. Hopefully my run will get more people to try normal 100%.
The only record I had heard of prior to my 59:35 back in May (might have been June) was DaveB's 59:36. I'm not sure if it was segmented or not, and there wasn't a video either.
At any rate, good luck on all the runs. I've decided to do a set of Resident Evil runs (all 9 of the ones worth running, soon to be 10...can you name them all? ) so I'll be busy for a little while with those (and the occasional attempt at 1% single segment Fusion)

Well, currently DragonDarch's time is the record for normal 100%, and if I know how the scores work, you have to beat his time to get a record for normal 100%, even if it is segmented. So, you're not as lucky as you thought. :P
Well, I've been taking a lot of stabs at the 1% single segment again...here's a few things I noticed since I started it up again as compared to before:
-Yakuza is much easier to kill if you just run around the room as opposed to cowering in a corner -Mega-X is extremely random. Sometimes I'll get 2 or 3 flawless battles in a row, others I won't be able to take him down 5 runs in a row (knock on wood...I haven't lost to it in 5 runs) -Nightmare is a royal pain if it chooses not to cooperate and move in ways that are relatively easy to avoid -SA-X can only kill me (chase scenes) if I do something stupid -Random things can kill me anywhere...even early in the run -Adam needs to come with a mute button (I knew this before...it just applies moreso now ) -Nettori has YET to kill me...and has only managed to hit me twice -After killing Yakuza my nerves become shot and I start using "twitch reaction" pretty much everywhere -Did I mention Adam needs to shut it? -Mega-X is the first challenge, and then there's a 30 minute lull in difficulty...but almost eveything after Yakuza is challenging (or tiresome on the fingers/thumbs)
There were a few more but I forgot what they are...needless to say I've spent almost 2 full days worth of time attempting these things (scroll down to the colorful post HERE to see my current stats) and it looks like I'll probably spend another 2 full days until I finally finish it :?
-Yakuza is much easier to kill if you just run around the room as opposed to cowering in a corner
You didn't know that? I believe there were some conversations about that before.

Don't you mean your skill and calmness is random? I always thought it followed you everywhere. I'm not so sure though. Please correct me if I'm wrong....
Quote from Dragondarch:

I think you mean are not relatively easy to avoid there....
Quote from Dragondarch:
-SA-X can only kill me (chase scenes) if I do something stupid
Yeah, as they always say, "It's easier to run."
Quote from Dragondarch:
-Random things can kill me anywhere...even early in the run
Man, that sounds like it must really suck. Be careful out there....
Quote from Dragondarch:
-Adam needs to come with a mute button (I knew this before...it just applies moreso now )
They really should have made him skippable. He talks more than you play.
Quote from Dragondarch:
-After killing Yakuza my nerves become shot and I start using "twitch reaction" pretty much everywhere
Yeah, I think that's called aftershock or something. Stupid adrenaline rushes....
Quote from Dragondork:
-Did I mention Adam needs to shut it?
At this point, who hasn't?

Sweet, I'll be looking forward to watching it next week! Good luck!
1% single segment FINALLY! Time was 1:06 but after Nightmare I stopped trying for speed and started making damn sure I didn't die. I was almost certain I was gonna die at Nightmare too since he moved I wasn't able to avoid it...I managed to lure him out of the way and dodge the next one.
You should've heard me screaming at Nightmare after it died...and Ridley...and all the way to SA-X...and fighting Omega Metroid...and after I finished it...I'm suprised I didn't wake any of my neighbors up.
And of course...here's the final stats: Place where I died.........Taped Time...Attempts/Deaths.........Success rate Blobs in Sector 2..........15 minutes...53 attempts/1 death.....98% success Serris.....................25 minutes...52 attempts/3 deaths....94% success Side-Hopper in Sector 3....30 minutes...49 attempts/1 death.....98% success Ice-X in Sector 6..........35 minutes...48 attempts/1 death.....98% success Mega-X.....................35 minutes...47 attempts/15 deaths...68% success Space Pirate Gauntlet......60 minutes...32 attempts/1 death.....97% success Yakuza.....................65 minutes...31 attempts/18 deaths...42% success 1 hit kill Wasps...........65 minutes...13 attempts/2 deaths....85% success SA-X chase in Sector 2.....65 minutes...11 attempts/2 deaths....82% success Aqua Pirates in Sector 5...70 minutes...9 attempts/2 deaths.....78% success Nightmare..................75 minutes...7 attempts/5 deaths.....29% success Ridley.....................90 minutes...2 attempts/1 death......50% success Game Clear.................105 minutes Total Attempts: 53 Total Time: 48 hours
I'd also like to note that this just happens to be my birthday...so maybe that has something to do with my success 8)
Congratulations! :D Looking forward in seeing the first recorded, finished run (wanted to be Sess but he doesn't seem consistent enough). I'm surprised you didn't rip your GBA up, unlike someone *cough*, since Fusion is a lot more anal than Zero Mission. Have any ideas for the next project? :P How about AoS single segment? ;)
AoS single segment? Yeah right...I had enough frusteration doing it in 14 segments...though I do plan on lowering that time at some point.
I'd like to also note that after I took Nightmare down I had more adrenaline pumping through me than I've ever had before...by the time I got to Ridley I was already screaming stuff like "Come on! Bring it!" After Ridley until about 5 minutes after I stopped recording my hands were shaking uncontrollably
As for my next project...I'm gonna be doing Resident Evil speed runs, starting with Resident Evil 2, then doing the rest as I get more tapes.
EDIT: And there's no way I could rip my GBA up...it's sitting on the shelf next to the GameCube. I don't use it as a controller either...I use GameCube controllers when playing all GBA games.
i honestly can't think of anything appropriate to say. this is just the most outrageous fusion-worship imaginable. you've inspired me to start trying some any percent single segments, just to see what kind of times i get. do send off the video asap so we can revel in your magnificence asap. i'm even more excited since your aos run was most excellent quality. i can't wait to follow along and to feel the fear when nightmare turns against you, to feel the joy when the omega metroid dies.
and i totally believe the shot nerves. what's even more shocking is that you didn't lose it due to that, especially at the sa-x. one shot from the ice beam kills, doesn't it? not much room for error, especially when you can barely hold on to the controller. but you did it. nothing can change it now.
and happy birthday, my friend. very happy for you most of all, i'd imagine. :)
