Hooray, I finally made a sub hour run, 0:59 7%.

I might've found a speed trick after SA-X. After targeting BSL, head left and shinespark, then go down and release that shinespark until you get to the door. It would be easier to explain if I had a video of this.
Nope. That is much slower than running to the door.

I also think running to the door is just a little faster than running left, speed boosting right, and doing a space boost to the door. But it's only like a .1 second difference so it may not matter at all.

...what? I don't get a word of what you're saying. sorry....
Alright, just checking. Good to know.

This, "trick" Is in the main deck; after fighting the SA-X, you go to the operations deck and activate the propultion sequence. You then run left, then run right and do a speed boost, and press down. You then go down the ledge, and shinespark to the door on the right.

...What? What was the possible trick? What if there's another place it can be done that actually does save several seconds? Crying or Very sad Ah well, I suppose nobody cares about Fusion anymore.... :?

negative. you didn't see w.dawgs all interested and explanatory up there, helping the newb even as he wolfed down his science diet?

Oh, oops! I guess I should look more carefully before I jump to conclusions like that, huh?  :x

Well, I hope all the SBing goes well! Wink And by the way:

Quote from JaggerG:
WD, I've just been bombing the path, then laying a bomb on the thing above the missile, but then I go back up. I lay a bomb on the exit and right away roll down, drop, unmorph, grab the missile, then hop and climb out. if you're quick enough, and do a short hop and morph in air, you can exit the area before it reforms. sometimes I actually exit the whole room before it reforms, sometimes it reforms ontop of me.

Why does it reform at different times? That's the big room with a bunch of bombable blocks around right next to the blue "red cap"/tall pillar room on the way to the big tree boss in TRO.
I still care about fusion. In fact, aside from super its my favorite.
I think I have found another trick that saves just under a second.
In the beggining, after the last navigation room before missiles, you come into a room where you have to jump a few times to reach the elevator room.
If you, when you exit the nav room, jump at the right time, you can hold left before entering the next room and do a walljump to get to through the room faster. At least I think it's faster.
I always do that in my runs, and I did it in my current run too. That's cool, that we thought of the same thing.

Okay, new record for me:
Single Segment 100% @ 1:25

I followed WD's route mostly, but I got that one power bomb tank in NOC with only 5 falls. Although in TRO, I screwed up the pit block room, and I screwed up majorly on some shinesparks. After the Meltdown, I was in that first big room, I was gonna shinespark up and right to the ladder, instead I fell, tried to spin jump left, and ended up sparking left, through the door. I then got stalled by the blue hopper guys there, and ran into the security lock room (I have no idea why). I happened to have a shine going, so I opened the door, and sparked right, then shined, jumped, and sparked right again (HORRIBLE). So I decided to run right some and build a shine just for practice. I went through the big room, and ended up running out of shine. I suppose that cost me at least as much time as the lmfao and cry part of WD's.

Anyways, I had really sucky boss fights, and some evil boss doors, but now I'm through with the quick practice 100% SS get the time and % in the pause screen run through. Time for my originally planned Segmented 100%. I'm aiming for sub 1:20. wish me luck.

On another side note, this 1:25 Single Segment run ended up taking a whole day. I started last night, and I finished tonight. It was only that one run, too. I just left it on sleep mode over night because I didn't feel comfortable because I couldn't chill in my comp chair, or my bed, and play it. I had it on from midnight to 7 or so. The light's still green. How long does the battery last on sleep mode?
I've tested it, and from what I gather, it lasts 6-7 days.

I WAS SO ROBBED!!!

I got 1:23 on my second one, on the third I did my first segment (to Arachnus, at this rate, I'm gonna have a LOT of saves), and continued on to the end.I didn't make so many big mistakes this time. I was checking the time while SA-X was getting its arse handed to him by OM. It looked like somewhere around 2:13-2:15 on the timer was 1:22 in the total game. Anyways, I crapped it up horribly, and the ship beamed me up around 1:19, and the timer flew up and away. I guess those last five seconds where the ship hovers a bit then blasts off DOES count. I ended up with a 1:23 again. But I'm getting better. I've decided that it's better to continue to the end every time unless I lose several minutes on something. This way, I'll get much more practice for each segment and won't have to wait until I finish one part to practice another. It doesn't get as boring this way.

So I guess I'll just wait until my sub 1:20 100% game is complete to post the "official" time for it. By official, I mean whatever I claim it is.

My thumbnail really hurts now.
After what seems like forever, part 3 is done. My guess is that I reset it around 1000 times, and all because of giant plant and his pet eye. I'm happy. Very happy. Know what else? 4 jumps. Special dangerouse SA-X escape. 1.2 seconds of mistakes. That makes about seven seconds of mistakes so far in this run, and one eye door shot. I think that's good, and I think I'm almost thirty seconds ahead of WD. Because: one less save, less mistakes, better SA-X escape, four less eye door shots, and four jump giant plant. But the rest of dawgs's run is very good, so it'll be hard to gain much more time on his run. I think my next save will be right before mega-X, but not sure. Did I mention that I am very happy?

also, that is scientifically proven to help you get a better time.

most excellent. it looks like you, my friend, will be the very first (and maybe only) person in the world with a 0:49 fusion game. no amount of self-congratulation is inappropriate at this point, imo.
Very good job Kridly.

But now I have my GB with me and I think I'll postpone my 1% running for a little while.
Hmm.....maybe we'll both get 49? If we do, I wonder who will get 48 first after that....if anyone does get 48 at all. Good luck on giant plant. *snicker*
the weirder thing would be that this would be the first time (afaik) that those old rules would have come into effect (go three subjunctives in one short sentence). i.e., since w.dawgs is "trusted" (an any percent run captured already), he would have a "legal" 0:49 if he were to claim it. but kridly's capturing his, so his would also be "legal". what i'm getting at is it would be interesting to see how many people disbelieve w.dawgs (because he doesn't have a recording) versus kridly (even though he does). and don't laugh, lots of people disbelieve times even when there are recordings verified by the entire community.
That would suck, for WD, if it wasn't official. I think most people(including me)would believe him though. BTW nate, whats up with your sig?
lol. never read ender's game?
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
He might be reffering to the fact that it's extremely similar to the sig he's had for quite a while. Upstart.  :P

What an awesome book. Have you read the whole series?

indeed. i will admit that his quote both reminded me of mine and inspired me to add it to my sig.

everything except children of the mind. it wasn't out at the time i was reading the others, and i got kind of distracted by other stuff. would need to read the whole series up to children of the mind again when i choose to continue with them. i hear the ender's shadow series is also quite good?
The Shadow series rules! It is basically Ender's Game rehashed. Feel more like Ender's Game than the Speaker for the Dead series. It's not just that Bean is so damn cool. :D
I've decided that I'm not going to do the next save until the next eye door(mega x). That means this segment will be about 6 minutes of gameplay. I've pretty much got the serris fight down, and I've been practicing BOX a bit, and come up with a strat that kills him in 23 seconds(time starts when I enter the room, and ends when he jumps out of the room) WD kills it in 25, and sess kills it in 21. WD saves in sectors 4 & 3, so that'll give me a twenty second gain, if I do as will as he did, but more than likely I won't because its all one segment. I actually like this segment, so I'm still very happy. I'm aiming for 18 at the save, but you all know how that goes...
