Nate, when are you going to start updating the site again?

asap. gotta get done with the three runs i have to capture now, and also w.dawgs's if it comes before i'm done with the first three, before i can start. it's taking so long because we (radix and i) keep finding new ways to get the quality of the capture higher. we're actually going to offer three different qualities on all the runs now, the highest of which will be astonishing ... more on that later, obviously.

In 1 and a half day, I managed to get 13% :58.
Today I did a single segment :58, 16%.

see, that makes me think of what i said in my 0:53 commentary about how hard you try/how many mistakes you make not affecting your time that much, or as much as it should. :/

and good find, w.dawgs. who knows, it may be very useful someday!

Hehe. I highly doubt it. So far it will only work in that one spot.

I kind of found it by accident (which most glitches are anyway). Well, halfway at least. I noticed that SA-X will shoot you twice if you are morphed. One will freeze you and the other will automatically make you stand up. Then it will missile you. I then wondered what would happen if it shot you in a tunnel. You will actually stand up inside the tunnel before the SA-X missiles you as well. You just can't do anything.

I tried in the tunnel under all the power bomb blocks, but the second shot will bring you outside of the tunnel. If you go farther in, the SA-X will lose sight of you and run around like an idiot. (I have made several videos of stupid SA-X moments. Some are kind of funny.)

heh, do you think i should post them in the fusion section under 'other' on a special page called 'stupid sa-x moments'?
Might be cool. I made them as .avi's also. That way I could look at them all at once.

I may have made an astounding discovery during the past few minutes too. I discovered how to get the ice missiles going backwards. If you want, I could make a video of it. It might be faster than grabbing them normally, but I don't know yet. It's much more difficult though.

EDIT:

I'll upload the SA-X vids and the last half of the ice missile thing. (I was still in the process of experimenting when I made it).

You know where to find them. I'll remove them once you look/download/whateve them.

EDIT2:

I made the full video, and it does look quite fast. It's and .avi so the file is big (23 MB). I think I just make a VMU instead.

EDIT3:

Well maybe not. I just now remembered how much I hate recording vmu's. And I have a new VBA version (1.7.2 I think) and its using a BIOS.

I leave it up to Nate.

EDIT4:

(look at all the editing).  I could almost test the actual gameplay scripting if it wasn't for 2 things here.

1: If the door after the data room wasn't yellow.
2: If the pillar monster thing was only a little bit more to the right. Not even a half-block more to the right.

The reason for number 2 is that I need to open the yellow door in the security room to give myself the little bit of extra running room that I need.

Either the developers saw it coming or were just being careful.
rotflmao. hilarious vids, will definitely add them to the site if that's okay with you. i can really see people getting a kick out of them like i did.

and too bad about the ice missiles deal. do you think you could test to see if getting them backwards is faster? if so, then your discovery would go into every future any percent run, at least.
Hehe. I have one more stupid SA-X video. I'll put it up in a second and remove the others.

I may just upload the backwards ice missile deal. For some reason, I recorded getting the ice missile the normal way and the video only turned out tho be 9 MB.

But getting it backwards is faster. By about 3 seconds I think. If I record it again and shrink the file size, I'll upload it as well.

EDIT:

Gah! Still 23 MB. I have no idea why the other one turned out to be only 9. I'm pretty sure I used the same compression form. (Divx)
lol well if i have both, i can tell you why.
Ok. But only 'cause you asked. ;)

Everything on that page should be new BTW. Even the Ice missile backwards video. It's the full version.
I just pulled off 1:00 9% whooo!. yeah. every run goes down by 2 minutes.
go go go ... next run you'll be under an hour then!
yes but right now I'm working on zero mission. then I have to watch your :53 run or if it's up at the time W.dawgs' run at :50.

Actually, I just watched a few segments of the :50 run, and I noticed that, except for the boss battles, I'm very near Wassup Dawgs in at least the first sectors. Maybe 10 seconds in the first two sectors.
When I've watched the whole run, I'll see what I can improve on, what new tricks I can use, and how low my time gets when I use the improvements. I think I could get :55 if I accepted less mistakes during the last 5 or so segments.

EDIT: The last segments were much better than the first ones.

I need to do another run soon... Very soon...
My fastest time is 1:06 minutes and 19%.
Maybe I should collect less items. Wink

welcome to the forum. and yes, you should.
i bring you this quote from 2 march 2004:

02:57:07 PM: Sesshoumaru: no one bothers to run fusion

great job, everyone! let's keep it up! :D
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
My best time is still 5:00.

Want that?
I have a non-recorded 1% 1:33...any interest?
you should definitely record a 1% single segment. mwahaha.
I just did another fusion run with 9% instead of 19% and I ended with exactly the same time. 1:06 :x
I need to practise a bit, because I did my 19% game almost 3 months ago.

I am not angry just a bit dissapointed.
of course. just take a look at dawgs's :50 and try again, segment by segment. guarantee you'll get a higher time if you do that.
I will do that tomorrow morning. And I will try to do it again after watching. I am aiming for a sub 1 hour run and I think that it should be possible since I made a lot of mistakes on my last run. But my greatest weakness is bosses. It always takes a lot of time to kill them.  I am going to sleep now since it is 2:40 am where I live.  Goodnight. :D

Uh..doesn't he want a lower time?
I thought a lower time was better, too...
Mistakes... Hehe.

Anyway, I tried copying Dawg's first segment. Everything went well, I was maybe one second after when I got to the first boss doow, and 3/5 openings were shootable, which, if I remember correctly, was better, meaning I had a better time there.
I also beat the boss in 1 round, meaning it never rolled across the screen. The rest of the segment went very good too, until I was heading back to the refill-save-nav area, and I got hit by a blue thing. I somehow died (probably had to do with pirates and stuff). I was at max 5 seconds after, when I died...

I'll try again when I awake, it's 4:25 AM now, goodnight everyone.

and man, s.jedi, that sucks. i apologize on behalf of the game.
It was my mistake, anyway.

I just tried doing that segment again, and it went practically flawless until after Charge. The next time I try, I won't save one of the... Whatever they're called, and just shoot missiles at it. Then, maybe, I'll survive...

A few notes from my last try:
1. I got hurt once on my way to the first boss.
2. I got a perfect (!) boss door, which I think gained me 5-10 seconds.
3. I beat the boss in one round, saving at least 5 seconds, and I beat the Core-X about 1-2 seconds faster.

Too bad the end of the segment sucks for me, I'll have to train that part in...

If you didn't notice, I'm aiming for a time at most :50, less might be hard, but if everything goes well...

Oh, and a question:
The underwater walljump after Serris, how much time does it save?
