my best time: 1:10 , 19% :( I suck at fusion :)
You didnt do that bad. My last run was also 19% but I beat it in 1 minute less(1:09}
I have a question. In my run, will the meltdown segment count for my time in the meltdown catagory? Or will I have to record a seperate thing, with just a meltdown video?
I don't see why it wouldn't count.

I believe similar things have been done for the Frigate in Prime.
I finally got a segment 1 that is fairly decent. It's not the best I can do, but I hate running up to the VCR to rerecord stuff all the time. It's about 5-6 seconds worse than what I could do, but I don't care.

>_<
Yeah, I'm dreading having to get up and rewind the tape to the right spot EVERY TIME I mess up, instead of just pressing start+select+A+B to reset it. *Thinks about Giant Plant and all the Eye doors* I don't know if i'll still have whats left of my sanity after i'm done...
hey everyone. not quite back yet but i have something i need to tell you. i am so so so so so so sorry i didn't mention this earlier.

basically it's a way to skip the intro with no penalty. daveb discovered it and it was revealed when he did his 100% single seg, but i forgot to tell people about it. you need to erase a file so that there is nothing there, then start a new game, i.e. so that you DON'T have the clock. then beat the game without saving, doesn't matter what your time is. just obviously be careful not to die on the sa-x or o.metroid or something or you'll be back at the beginning of the game. after you beat it, you will have a 0:00(:00) file that will let you start with the clock and without the intro (without going to start over). go ahead and copy that file to your two or three other slots if you want to make sure you don't have to go through all that work again.

with this relevation, i'm starting to feel like competing with y'all again, but only because you are such good competition (so don't expect me to be beating your times anytime soon).

also, there is one other order of business. when you finish your runs, do NOT mail them to radix. i believe i've discovered a way to solve the brightness problem for the first time. also, it's about two weeks until i am home. if you (probably kridly) finish a run before i get home, go ahead and send me a pm here on the forum and i will send you my parents' address. if i get home and your runs are still not done in like a week, what will happen is i will move into my apartment on 1 august and give you that address to mail to. either way the run should get to me quickly and be captured quickly and in bad ass quality, without vhs defects or definition lost to the brightness problem.

btw, don't worry about rewinding so much. that damages the tape over time and honestly, sitting through a couple aborted segments is not going to kill me. maybe rewind every ten retries or something. you people are good enough that i'm not going to kill you for doing that.

hope that gives you something to help you keep going (or at the very least, be annoyed about). again, sorry about not bringing that skip intro deal up earlier.

viel glück.
That's nice. I remember pulling that off on an emulator a long time ago (when I wrote my FAQ), but I had no idea how it happened.

Well I still have the WT GBP and I saved right after the intro so I had about 5-10 extra seconds on the clock. Oh well.
you don't want to try for another first segment? i guarantee it will feel incredibly good to do it without that huge time loss right off. think about how much crappier you could do and still get a better time due to that.
Ok. I'll start over. I didn't have much completed anyway. I just can't motivate myself anymore with all this ddr and FF:CC stuff at my house. ;)
lol yeah i don't blame you. fusion is not exactly the most interesting game in the pack. would really love to see your talents at the real game, though, and there's the whole 'pass the wt gbp on' deal to worry about as well. good luck.
I haven't played fusion for awhile, I've just been working on Zero Mission. I've decided that I will record a 100% normal run on MZM, along with both of my any% Fusion runs. I'm working on a 100% run in MZM and think I'll get around 1 hour, but if I don't, I'll have plenty of time to practice and polish.

Oooooo...someone be comin' after me time...kind of like I'm goin' after AJ's Hard time...and at some point GameCube04's any%...I think I may have to work normal a bit more  Wink
I'm not doing single segment runs, so you don't have to worry about having the record taken from you. If I was, then you should worry  Wink .
Hehe, actually I want to raise the bar (or lower it in this case  Wink ) a bit more. I've got a couple new tricks to add in, and sub-59 is definitely possible.

Basically I want to set the bar so low than it'll be a cold day in Hades before someone takes the top spot away  Twisted Evil
>_<

I started over to do the skip cutscene trick and I accidently save at my ship.

36 on the clock after. I know I can do better. I just need to find my SP battery charger. I'm stuck using a regular GBA. I can't charge a spark with that thing. The screen is real dim too. I don't know how I played that well before I had an SP.

I also need to relearn the core-X flash timing.

I was also watching my brother play FF:CC so that could have been a factor as well.
lol no way

Welcome to the club. While we should be discussing this in the MZM place, I just want to make a quick statement: If you do beat any of my times, I'll be back to work at getting the record again. Also, the record for any% normal to beat is 30:22, which I set, and plan on beating eventually.. and finally, I too tried to bring the 10% hard record so low that people wouldn't want to try to beat it; I mean, already nobody does 10% hard, cause it's too hard, and when there's a low record people want to do it even less. I think I have that one secured. Sorry for going so off topic, everyone....
I only went off topic cuz Kridly kinda went off topic...I SWEAR! I'm innocent I tell ya.../pleads the 5th

Umm...I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it...can't prove ANYTHING! /sneaks off somewhere people can't find him  Wink

yikes, w.dawgs. i know the feeling all too well. at least beating metroid fusion in any amount of time isn't as bad as doing half of your run again, as radix and trebor can tell you. good luck.
