It's a glitch in the Matrix, Neo. Woah, deja vu. I'm getting outta here.

Heh, that reminds me of something funny: Vu Jade - The strange feeling you get that nothing has happened before.

Nate already PMed me about that too Kridly.

Also, the meltdown thing is cool. My best time is 4:2x (low 20's)  This was done recently on an emulator though. I can't remember my best time on a console, though it's probably better.
I really like that Idea of the Meltdown sequence. I don't remember My times but I think I will go try to get a really awsome time. My best time is still 1:10 after I play thrue ZM a few times I will try another run.
I've been doing meltdown abunch, and I just got a new time. 4:21:48.
Just did meltdown too. (With another experimental speed run)

Got 4:25:9x on my 2nd try. Then I kept it because it was good. :)

Losing interest? Have you tried ZM? When I beat it with all eight endings, I may go back to super speed runs on Fusion (never got past Sector 1 perfectly, never recorded).
I got another good meltdown time. 4:26:27 :P . I'm working on another speed run and I have 0:00 at the main deck. Beat that!

Can't beat it but tied it.

I got 49 minutes at the save before SA-X. Beat THAT!! :P
I am working on another 100% run My goal is to get sub 2 hours I have 35 minutes to get about 50 percent of items. I might start another one but first I want to finish this one. I got a good meltdown I got 2:25:21. after My 100 run I will be finishing my ZM hard sub 2 hour run.

2:25 to finish the Meltdown or the clock said 2:25? I always beat it at over 3:30.
oh sorry that 2 is supposed to be a 4.

Oh, okay. Have you seen the 100% speed run video? Or do you find your own path?
Grrrr. My any % speed run ended in 52 minutes again with 8% items. I missed 51 minutes by about 10-15 seconds.

I'd also like to comment on the deal with 1% being optimal. I don't believe this is true. Getting missiles may take time, but you can grab ones that are directly in (or near) your path. This costs a few seconds, but those can be quickly killed with boss fights. Especially Nettori and Nightmare. If Sess had 10 more missiles, he could have killed Nightmare with only 1 stop.
I found my own path. My computer is a huge gigantic piece. but I think I could watch it next thursday. bur right now I am ditching fusion for Zero mission.

Does grabbing an item take any time? I thought the black bar stopped the clock. Anyway, nate's point was that no items off the beaten path are required for world class times, as proven by sess. Not strictly that getting them is a waste of time.
Yes time still ticks with the black bar.

Nate believes (I think) that 1% is optimal. I'm just saying, I don't think it is.

Let me try to find an earlier post of his.
Fast forward eight months. Sesshoumaru's 1% Technical Demonstration altered Fusion Speed Running to its core, and now, with Sess's discoveries, it looks like 1% may be the nominal percent for Fusion (i.e. collecting items is a waste of time, period). I feel that this revelation has strongly diminished Fusion as a game, since there are no longer three categories of Speed Runs like there are in every other Metroid game.

I guess it wasn't a post. This is his commentary on his 53 minute run.

I would also like to comment on the moving = time thing. I sorta think time plays a small role in the movements of the enemies. I'm not going on your (Nate) opinion, but on what I have played around with. But I don't think the effect is as drastic as you say it is. For example...

When playing on and emulator, I used savestates to find optimal times when writing my FAQ. I usually saved as soon as I entered the room for the boss doors, becuase I thought that the vulnerable/unvulnerable variables were determined when you were in range of his sight. I quickly determined that he did almost the same thing every time I restarted at that same state. That's when I figured that the boss door variables were also determined as soon as you enter the room. But I don't think it has to do with just the time you enter the room. I'll also use the jumping plant boss. Save in the boss room, and he'll do pretty much the same thing each time, but he does change his pattern sometimes. On Sess's runs, he usually saved on the point after the Nav. in a new sector. I'll just say, Sector 2. He should have always entered the large room at the exact same time. Who couldn't? All you do is hold right and shoot open the doors. He managed to get different movements in restarting didn't he? I've tried the same thing and I have too.

What I'm getting at, is time may not be a big factor in determining movement in the rooms. Randomness still has to be involved, so you shouldn't let that get you down.

Well, maybe it's outside the file factors. I heard that there is no such thing a s a computer randomly generating a number, but there are codes to make it seem like they're randomly generated. I guess the only proof is that computers don't think for themselves, therefore, don't choose a number listed just because it feels like it. It has to be programmed to choose something at some time. Maybe it has to do with an internal clock or how fast you start the file.

Actually, it can be the time and place you shoot the doors, not just entering rooms, that decides which way they will go. I don't know.
I'm trying for 53 this time, and I think I might actually do it. I have 0:03 at the begining of srx i. I'll have 0:09 in sector 2(right before giant plant) I got 0:09 before, but the eye door shot once, and I had a few mistakes. I'm dreading giant plant though.....last time through, he just kept jumping, and jumping, and jumping, over, and over, and over, and over again.

giant plant

That is my most hated part in the run.
The part I hate most is getting past SA-X quickly right after Giant Plant. Not once have I ever been able to do that (and i've had a save right after Giant Plant for months now, too). Giant Plant comes in third place, and Yakuza comes in second.
I don't think getting past the SA-X in TRO is THAT hard, I die abunch on it, but I can do it about 1 out of five times. I've only been able to jump over the beams without pushing left once, but I messed up later Evil or Very Mad . Anyway, I'm at the save right before serris, with early 13. This part's pretty long; I go from this save point to the one right before Mega-X. I think I can get to the save right before Mega-X with 19, but I'm not 100% sure. Once, I had a PERFECT Serris fight. I killed him not even a second after he went from high-speed to normal(after I had shot hi once), and I killed the Core-X on the sweet spot, it was so good, that I could see the Core-X's shell when I got the message saying I got the Speed Booster. I did pretty well, until B.O.X. I messed up BAD. I doubt I'll be able to get a serris fight that good again, combined with killing the core on the sweet spot, but I can try. BTW isn't 19 before mega-x pretty good?

yes, it's excellent.
Got the WT (cookie for anyone who can guess what that means) GBP today. I'll start recording once I get some blank tapes.

Don't worry nate, I'll follow your instructions.

I'll be doing an any% run and a 100% run.
Should I also record a 1% run while I have it still?

I'd say only if it'd be significantly different from any %.
glad to hear it, w.dawgs. am i excluded from the contest? if not ... *munch*

and yeah, i second what radix said. not sure how you're going to make your any percent that much different from a one percent.

however ...

if you wish to be in the "hall of fame," best times list or whatever for being the first to complete a confirmed 1% game, be my guest. of course, i think it kind of goes without saying that we could all pick up gbas and do 1% games tonight without any preparation, so not sure how important that is to you.
