He walljumps up the left wall, barely missig all the rippers, then after the last walljump, he immediately shoots a wave beam shot diagonally upward to destroy the shootable block, and clears the ledge by about two pixels.
since nobody post in the best times topic anymore i'll try to revive it.
my best time so far is 1:04 w/38%. it's alot better than my last run in which i had 2:13 w/89%. the bad thing about it i lost track on where the items. i think i can atleast get 52mins w/28%.
-8 minutes faster than my previous any-% run -36% items (70 missile 5 energy tank 30 super missile) - i use Smokey route, but i not using barrier glitch before Mother brain. It is very weird glitch.
This was pretty nice run i kill Botwoon in two rounds, Draygon in three rounds. i using couple enemy boost trick in my run. My run includes 16-17 save points.
Just now i working 100% run, i think my possible goal can 1.16 or lower.
so far i'm was kinda happy until i fought motherbrain. i got the time of 58mins w/no energy tanks,all reserve tanks,85 missles, 25 supers, and 15 powerbombs(if i remember)when i load, it's too bad when motherbrain uses mindbeam it beat samus.
i think i went too far on this one, and i will try to get less than an hour that's my goal(this time with at least two etanks).
Right, but reserve tanks only empty once, so he'd only have the basic 99 energy twice over.
Even if he pressed start just before the beam hit him (can't pause while being hit), refilled his energy back to 99 manually, then set the tanks to auto refill, he'd still be a bit short.
I can't seem to escape Torizo. I know it's possible, but I just try it over and over, it just doesn't work. Can anyone list everything they know about arm-pumping? Is the Arm-pumping based on pumping every frame, or every step, or just whenever you can?

You pump every other frame, as what hapens is Samus's position shifts 1 pixel forward every time aim changes from diagonal to horizontal. Thanks moozooh for the description.
i just tried it with only the charge beam, w/gsuit,13 etanks,2 reserves, 75missles, 25supers and powerbombs and got an awlful time 2:32. i skiped the varia suit.
- i'll tell you battling rigley wasn't as easy as i thought, it took along time just to defeat him since the only attack he use on me most of the time was his tail, and definitely the mb fight made me loose feeling in my fingers. i used up all of my missles and all i had was the charge so that couldn't be good. in the end i was glad that i had hyper to finish mb quick.

I made lot enemy boosts and lot speedtrick, but i not know barrier glitch not working. I can get easily 1.14 ending if i use that barrier glitch. PAL versio is definitely slower than USA there are lot slower place and Kraid quick kill not working never because boss close mouth after i shot 2-3 super missile. Murder beam is really weird, i can made that easily, but after i made that my game stopped and i not can move. Only way i must be turn off my console.
I not have world records skills but i am curios see what is slowest possible PAL versio time.

1: why charge is sometimes most effective and sometimes weak. Example Croac crocomire my 100% run. Sometimes boss died after one charge and very often i need two charge his mouth.
2 I have trouble made floor spike boost, Red Scarlet use that her 100% run. I can du roof spike boost almost 100% of the time and enemy boost almost 85-90% of the time, but floor spike boost 0% of the time. Why it is impossible for me?

If you keep Crcamire on screen as he backs up into the lava, he should go all the way back every time. And remember that once you get the plasma beam, your shots go through enemies (except Ridley and MB) and sometimes hit them twice, making them seem much more powerful.

Spike boosts off the floor really aren't that useful, but as for doing them, first make sure you're facing awayfrom the direction you want to go, then be holding jump, and just after Samus touches the ground, press the direction you want to go. They're a good deal more difficult than cieling/wall spike boosts and most enemy boosts. I think the time frame to press back is shorter.
my record on PAL is 00:42 anyone knows how fast that whould be on NTSC? Or is it the same time?
That's a very good time. As for PAL vs. NTSC defferences, the main one of them is that Samus's movement was adjusted to PAL timing, while the other things weren't, thus it appears that doors and other times objects move and act slower. That offers both advantages and disadvantages in a speedrun, but I think the times are more or less directly comparable.
Yes i´ve noticed some very tedious differenses in the PAL vs NTSC witch make some of the more useful tricks impossible. For example since doors open slower it is impossibel to do a sinsparks through the pillars in lower norfair and some shinesparks through multiple rooms are also impossible.
And there are enemies that are not in the same place as in NTSC witch makes it ultra hard to do waljumps in certain places(early supermissiles per example)
I have the NTSC version on emulator version on my computer on wich i have (without cheating) got a time of 37 segmented and 39 SS (both before i discoverd armpumping)
