You'll have to gab it at some point because of the Metroids, but yeah, I hadn't thought about how space jump would make getting it faster. Plus it speeds up Ridley and allows for one-shot-kills on the metal pirates.

wow this is new to me, i managed to lower my time at ridley's lair to 19

unluckily i have 52 of health so i could use the kagoball which was some mayor slowdown

yet i got 32 as clear time

my conclusion is that i need to speed up my norfair time

for now i need to improve my norfair and tourian time

also i forgot to say, at this attempt i recharged at the ship so counting the mayor time loss i got the time

some adjustments to recover supers might help me avoid rechargin and getting a better time

ive been thinking, if i manage to keep my health high until my ship recharge will be very fast

the thing that takes more health is the spark on the pirates room because i need to charge at the lava, if i can space jump that lenght i can save more time

i could also stop at the long norfair room and collect the items from the jumping monsters

edit: lol i cant watch the smv, probably bcause i only have the european rom

i havent begun recording yet because i first want some checkpoints to know if my run was optimal

after ceres 00:00
at red brinstar 00:10 (will vary on my attemt of sub-skipping ice)
before botwoon 00:15
before ridleys lair 00:19
before leaving norfair 00:24

with this attempt i got 32 but im guessing my lower norfair time was awful

holy god!! i just realized i can skip spazer!! i wont use beams on boss battles until ridley and by that time the plasma cancels spazer so it could be a mayor timesaver

Can you seriously not find an NTSC rom? They're everywhere.

The video desynced for me just after the metroid drains your energy. Two possible improvements I noticed (not counting mistakes): first of all, it's faster to run down the purple hill in Crateria, because if you open the door soon enough, you can keep your speedboost into the next room (maybe this doesn't work on PAL, so that's why you didn'd do it), secondly, the Metroid drains your energy a lot faster with no suits equipped. Also, you could have taken another hit with just the power suit. And finally, wouldn't it be a good idea to pick up the item drops from the first metroid in the second room? They're right in front of you, and having more Supers is always better.

Also, the refill/save at he ship is still going to take a long tme, no matter what your health. Persnally, I think you're better off (especially since this is segmented) just hoping for a lot of super missile drops.

EDIT: Skipping spazer would hurt your time. It's used in the Phantoon fight and required for the murder beam. You could skip it for Phantoon by using another wave power bomb shield, but that would both take longer and be harder. And Murder Beam of course saves a huge amount of time on MB phase III.

yeah i agree with that, my best chance is to take the super missile the cacti gives me at bubble norfair and use it to fight my way against the metroids, it might be good to save at norfair after the room with the beetoms

also about the ship, at my latest attempt i went with all tanks full and 6 of health, recharge time was considerably lower but the slow ship still worries about closing the door

i don't know if this is helpful for your run but if you get the grapple beam use it on draygon. will it waste your time or help it?

No, as we have a method to kill him faster than grappling, and the grapple beam takes several MINUTES to get.

i remember now since there's a mini boss on your way to the grapple beam it will screw up the time in a speedrun.
azor will this help?:

when you fight mb.do a quickcharge to quickly make motherbrain mad to make her execute her mindbeam . before she do that run into her to get your energytanks down faster. be sure to have the standard suit on and have about seven tanks. when she fire her beam will bring it down to one or two tanks(can't remember). be sure to put the suits back on when mb takes one step then use quickcharge while the metroid in attacking motherbrain/healing samus to help your time.when you get the hyperbeam it won't take many shots to kill mb.i hope this will help you out because mb is about a 8-10min battle. this will probably give you a few minutes to escape.

when you see a dull flash when charging unleash the button for a full blast without it looking like a full charge.it highly effective for speedrun and gameplay. i hope this will help you on your run and go! for it.

as for phantoon that is no big deal, using ice/wave as i did on the smv is easy

Oh yeah, duh, of course ice/wave doesn't require spazer. Stupid BlueGlass. Well grabbing spazer en route to Maridia would probably turn out to be, like half a second faster due to the speed booster, but remember that killing normal enemies will be slower (referring here to places where you want the enemies out of your way, like Kraid's lair and upper Norfair, and places where you have to kill enemies like the top room of Wrecked Ship.)

Remember that if you're grabing ice after Draygon you'll have to walljump up the last part of the red Brinstar shaft.

Right. The TAS way was what I was talking about, because it's the only method of climbing without ice beam that isn't considerably slower than (and is actually faster than) the normal method.
