Finished the game.

4:31 63%

This was quite an interesting first playthrough. I got the early super missiles, ice beam, wave beam, power bombs, entered Kraid's lair without the High Jump Boots, didn't get the Spring Ball, used the Draygon grappling beam kill, and the Golden Torizo trick (where you stand close to it and shoot up). When I speedrun this game, I plan to take several hours off.

I really like this game. It's fun.

i'm not that good on speed runs but i tried. my time 2:39 with only gravity suit,charge beam, speedbooster,spacejump,and few more thing but my item% was 49.

my time (without ever visiting any supermetroid related speedrun web) is 2:02 with 100%.

i dont have time to make a run with the new tricks i learned, but in holydays i will probably try

the time i used to have without me visiting any speedruns was about the same. in between 2:20 to 2:30 but i tries to challenge myself by getting lesser items and to get a better time.

After some practise I finally learned my last major speed trick, to pass through the Zebetite! So now I finally could avoid all the Missiles that were collected before to shot them, and save more time. The result is a new personal record for any% after almost a year!

0:43 with 27% of collected items, Single-Segmented

It's of course a skill-based speedrun, played in realtime. I record on Snes9x to simply have easy backups of my runs, and to share them for those who are interested.

This weekend was funny i played multiple hours Super Metroid. Nice game.

I collect all 100% item second time my life. Last time i collect 100% item almost 5-7 year ago. I not speedrun that, because i have trouble find all items again after couple years. I watch Scarlet video almost year ago, anyway. My time was

100% item: clear time 2.10,

It was surprised fast, because i use lot X-ray scope and i use 2 visit on Wrecked ship and 3-4 visit Maridia and multiple visit Brinstar. Just i forget many times get items

Still i get lot early items and i use lot WR trick. I get early X-ray scope. It is pretty tought trick, but not too hard.

I practice some trick i practice spikey boost trick. Spikey boost trick is easy, but enemy boost trick is impossible for me. I not understand why spikey boost is lot easier than enemy boost.

I practice quick charge trick and it working PAL as good as NTCS verisio. Quick charge trick was very easy. There are still some difference PAL and NTCS, because PAL versio doors open slower and it made some shine spark jumps impossible complete example one room in Norfair down stair.

Yeah i can du almost all Super Metroid trick now, but still not all trick yet. I not can made any glitch because i am very worst glitch player. Gravity jump not working and Mother brain barrier glitch is impossible for me.

Next weekend i think i started speedrun 100% game. I try maybe sub 1.20 run.

I think spike boosting is easier, because spikes don't move, generally. I've only done the enemy boost once, and the spike boosting is easy.

I also have trouble with the zebetite glitch. I can't seem to do it. I think I'm probably messing up the timing of it.

I'm trying to get a sub hour, and I've got :45 at my ship before Tourian. Although, if I can't do the zebetite glitch, I'm going to be losing a minute or more...at least I should be able to easily get :59, or lower.

Once I figure out how to attach my SNES controller to the PC (RIP, Lik Sang :(, major f**kings to Sony), I'll try to aim at sub-50, and then sub-45 SS any%. Currently, I mess up a LOT of advanced tricks I'm able to perform, just because of my keyboard (imagine dying at Draygon at 0:33 with a total of ~5 minutes wasted just on multiple failed trick attempts -- Saturn knows what I'm talking about, he watched that worthless joke of a run).

Next i practice crystal flash trick, i need that my 100% speedrun. I try use Scarlet route, but i change that little, bit. I not try get early springin ball.

Very annoying try speedrun, because i not any sure what is Red scarlet route, my any videos not working. I erased Windows media player and now i have Nero media player, but still SDA videos not working here, still i can hear music my computer expect in internet music not working.

About watching the videos, it would be best to download VLC and use that.

Most people recommend VLC, but is it still lot different. Nero and windows mediaplayer working very good my previous computer.

Best 100% time: 1.25

I finally complete my first 100% run on Super Metroid. There are very much mistakes and saves because that was my first 100% run.

I using Red Scarlet route, only expect was early energy tank in Wrecked ship. It is too hard get without gravity suit, because i have only 80 energy point after Phantoom. Last time i said i not try early springin ball glitch, but i practice that before my run and now i can du that pretty easily, but it is still pretty hard. I miss that one time in my run and it took multiple restart made that glitch fast enought.

I watch Red scarlet video before speedrun, i found her video on youtube. Next time i try sub 1.20 run. I can get sub 1.20 very easily because my run looks pretty horrible.

Super Metroid is definitely hardest 2d metoid to speedrun. Red scarlet is super lady WHOA! Wink

I recently got :49 SS. It was still really bad, but I'm happy enough with it for now, because it was my first SS of this game.

Best 100% time: 1.19 (PAL-versio)

6 minutes better than my test run. This run was much cooler/better than my previous one.

I less 5-7 save point. I made much better segments and much cooler boss fight. Draygon was good, i beat Draygon in two round, it was pretty much same as Red scarlet battle.

I think i try any-% run next time.

The other day I got an any% time of 00:51, without using any save states (other wise it would be about 00:37). It's not a bad time for my first attempt without save states :P I want to try single segment, but I'm afraid that I would mess up on a boss (I most likely would).

ok so as this is a speed topic im gonna post my progress of a possible new segmented run

1st segment: time:00:00 the beginning,
this was very well done, yet i havent recordede any segment yet

2nd segment: landing-red brinstar: time:00:01
this has to be the longest segment somehow and its full of small tricks so this might take a while to record

3rd segment: red brinstar-pre botwoon: time: 00:10
this is by far the hardest segment yet very well designed, here i do the horizontal spark to wrecked ship, then i 2 round phantoon and spark across the top of wrecked ship 2, on inside and the other to get the gravity suit

4th segment: pre botwoon-entrance of ridley's lair: time: 00:15
this segment isnt that hard, yet botwoon requires timing and my draygon fight is kinda variable. what i do is at the beginning spark across his head, after many tries this seems to do more damage overall and here is when it gets risky. im gonna manipulate things so i get him to shoot the white things even if i need to restart quite often, with this way i can shoot all my missiles and do quite enough damage so i can just finish him off with another spark. from here i check my health, if its low i spark across draygon's room to get health, if its high i spark across the big room

5th segment: ridley's lair-variable: time: 00:20
I havent decided yet im im gonna save at the ship, it depends on circumstances but if i see a rather average segment im gonna check my items, if good im gonna take my chances till the end. but if the segment is insanely well done im gonna save at norfair before entering brinstar

Azor, wouldn't it be better tomake a new topic or use one of your existing ones? Also, your time after Ceres should definitely be 00:00. Make sure to copy that data on to another file, though, because the game auto-saves again when Samus exits the ship.

actually i didnt saw the time but i assumed it was gonna be over a minute

i could change as i managed to open very door right and shoulder pump a lot

escape time was under 15 seconds

Yeah, it's possible. Check segment 2 of Scarlet's run. And you could just edit the first post in your Phantoon 2 round kill topic and change the name. That way you're not double posting and you aren't making another topic.

And very nice escape time; my best is 44:97 remaining.

as for bosses in my run kraid is easy, i 2 round phantoon but im not sure if my time is good when fighting draygon and ridley

for draygon this is my tactic:
first i begin with and horizontal spark across his head, this does enough damage to make him between yellow and red., like a dark orange. then for some reason he always follows up with the white thingies so i use as usual a powerbomb and release all my missiles. Lastly before draygon touches the walls i run the opposite way and do a charge to finish him off with an horizontal spark, by then my health is low so i use the horizontal spark to enter the space jump room

for ridley i copy scarlet's strategy and use murderbeam on the top part but unlike her i dont use the powerbomb. I instead charge the beam and when he appear i release and use about 5 missiles and keep shooting them at him. When he touches the murder beam area i cancel weapons and charge the beam so i can give him a full shot after
