I hit one hour and eighteen minutes in Super Metroid before I got Metroid Fusion and then the with the emu runs of 46 minutes and less I just kinda gave up.

Now I'm back playing it again trying to get closer to that golden one hour mark.

A few days ago I realized I had a file right before Phantoon (the time was between 1:00 and 1:59 >.>). I decide to beat the game. I got a time of 3:03 and 94% (I decided not to go through the sandy pits o' death with PB #66). I think I'm improving.
Best 100% so far is 1:03 ... shaving off 8 minutes to that time ..... got some work ahead of me i suppose

Yay! Finally under 2 hours!

I don't feel like scouring all of Zebes just for one missle tank.
bleh, i can't break 1:50 100%

though, if i remembered right, my friend did 100% in 1:26
I can't seem to break 1:10... course that could be because I only single-segment, and I usually wait a couple months between attempts.

I suppose speed running this game for me is just something neat to show some friends on occasion. Though I'd still like to break an hour. That :39 100% on tasvideos has given me a little inspiration.
It's nowhere near the fastest, but it's mine.

My fastest 100% time, which follows Red Scarlet's 100% :55 run, is 2:31. I wasn't trying for anything though. My wall jumping and spinesharking skills need a lot of improvement. That was back in Sept of '04.

A couple days ago I completed a 92% run completely from memory in 2:50. I wanted to go back for 8 things I missed, but it would've put me above the 3 hour mark.

After watching JXQ's tool assited :39 run to jog my memory on the location of the items I missed, I decided to do a 200% run with the reset glitch. 138% is recorded, but I got EVERYTHING. I took my save state from my old 100% finish and did the reset glitch, then went and got everything again. My time was 3:54, which puts me at 1:23 minutes for 100%. I didn't kill spore spawn in the original 100%, but did in the 200%.

I was bored so I decided to play.

After a 3 month (at the least) absence to playing SM, I come back after watching 10 minutes of my fastest speed run yet (1:20.... God was it painful) and I beat it.

Not by much though.

100% 1:14.

Was on an emulator (only used savestates, no slowdown or anything) and was mostly for recording an smv of rescuing the friends at the end. <_<

did my first ever speed run using glitches today..

:57 - 36%

not very good.. but it's something. i used a whopping two savestates - one before kraid and one before the zeebites. big ups to kejardon for his writeup on how to glitch through the zeebites.
I was bored at work and decided to run SM a bit. Behold: my first SM speedrun in about 11 years.

Time: 01:10; items: 33%; single-segmented.

Main mistakes:
- LONG bosses/minibosses fights, I really need some practice doing them fast (about 5-10 minutes wasted)
- an awful amount of water/lava jumps (new speed tech! Jump in lava for massive damage!);
- missing a few shinesparks;
- doing many (although needed) refills;
- not skipping Golden Torizo and maybe Screw Attack as well;
- taking those totally unneeded 4% (two missile and p-bomb packs).

The only glitches I used were zebetite skip (which took two tries) and mockball for early supers (four tries, but finally I know how to do it on a keyboard). Without those horrible mistakes, I should aim for something like 00:50-00:45.

And what's more important, I should really get myself that SNES-to-USB adapter, cause this keyboard SUCKS BIG TIME. I can't even dream of getting sub-hour without the ability to press more than three buttons simultaneously. :|

01:01, 28%, SS.

Again, long bosses fights. Everything else went much smoother (probably because this time I was playing at home).

Meh, I can't even remember the time from my last 100% run.  About 1:3x, I think.  But thanks to redesign seriously helping me with my aim/timing/mochballing/everything in general, I could probably pull about a 1:10 now, maybe.

On an unrelated note, it probably has a lot more to do with my route than anything, but kweh..[/i]
Finished the game the first time today (what a shame...)

My time / percents:

again, what a shame...
better late than never ... i never even played the game until 2003. :P
Quote from nate:

that's true. I played the game several times before, but I did never finish it.
Now the only unfinished Metroid game is the original NES Metroid...

You really dont need to make a post when there's going to be a whole topic soon praising your run ;)
